Laughing Build the arena that will handle your flame thrower here if you want.

I have some grand plans for an arena here that should handle 50kg insanities.

All in good time....

So a month till the next event. Did you want to do something to the arena before the first event? If so I'm around and able to make panels or whateva you need.

How do you Queenslanders feel about coming to the NSW Annhilator in July? July 1st looks promising, or the 15th could replace one of your events as mentioned on the first page.

@Marto... nothing to build here until we can afford 2 new poly screens. I have found a local supplier of poly sheets (where I've bought lots of bits for Malice).. I'm trying to swing a slightly better price out of them...

Besides the NSW event, any thoughts on unstick/tap-out rules for the upcomming season?

Could whoever has access to change the dates please update the QLD event date for the Feb 19th event ??
Thank you.

The USQ (local university) has been in touch. They aren't back until March, but the mechatronics lecturer is still going to 'encourage' (or push) students to participate in this years season - 1 to 3 university teams Smile

Any Qlders got thoughts on Annihlation in NSW or un-stick or tap-out rules ?

I've organised some THICK plank for the arena (over 2 inches thick) for whenever we need it.... handy having a friend with a sawmill...

first event for the year is only 3 sundays away...

I am not sure I can make it.

That is the Sunday after a major refit at church. We are moving the stage, the video display, the lighting grid, hanging new speaker bins and changing camera positions. It might work out that we don't get everything completed and we can't record for TV that day (meaning I can come) or it may be a last minute frantic rush to complete the job.

Time will tell.

This is a *church* ?? Shocked Where do the DJ's and Dancing Girls go ? Wink

I suppose its all not much more over the top than the traditional stained glass, pipe organ and michaelangelo style freso's.. must be a pretty hip, up-to-date church !.. Cool

See off topic thread.

I really hope that I can make it to the HOC on the 19th. I would like to give Marauder a combat run with it's new wheels before Robowars.

I can't be at HoC on the 19th. The upgrade at church was my idea. I would feel terible if something went wrong on the day and I was not there to try to fix it.

I hope that everyone will video it and post their videos.

I would be up for a park event if anyone is interested.

Have changed the calander on page 1 to show the Bris event on March 29 instead of an event here on March 19th.

Marto and Philip still out for Feb 19th meet ?

Any thoughts on tap-out/un-stick rules for the QLD season ?
For safety, I was thinking of no-one entering the arena until a fight is concluded. This would mean no unsticks.... thoughts guys?

"Unsticks" are a bad idea in my opinion.

While I understand some Arena's require it more than others due to wall-gaps, it discourages bot designs who's strategy is to "disable" the other robot by propping them against the wall with the wheels off the deck.

Perhaps you distinguish between "disabled due to enemy action" vs "stuck cause I drove my wedge into the wall" ? It might make for some hairy calls for the judges though..

I think the unstick rule sucks. If you get stacked against the wall by your opponent, then take it on the chin.
