Damn straight! If your bot can't survive jolt, don't bother building it!

well there are many ways to survive Jolt.

Either you have a way to take him out before he gets you

or you survive, most poeple using tyre rubber or steel...

the problem is you used to be able to beat Jolt by being strong enough so he broke himself, but Jolt is too well built now, we we need to survive and damage him back...

next weekend is doo-able, just have to ask nick if we can kind of work around the welded panels when putting in the other side of the drives Smile

i think thats it, you can either "survive" jolt by using rubber or thick ali or whatever you like to use or you can "attack" him in return by using steel.

it is interesting how the environments evolve the robots. the queensland robots seem to be content with the lower speed for their small arenas, and we seem to be just moving towards complete tanks. this should get interesting Very Happy

ill cut those panels out as soon as i can, some of the steel panels are bent from being in the dumpster so ill need to hammer that out. or weld it the other way round and hope the heat bends it back.

More hijacking: Glen, there isn't much work left on Cobra, just mounting the other motor & bearing. Now the event has been moved and the pressure is off a bit, I can finish that off mid-week.

I digress yet again:

Yeah to the rubber, tyres & blast mat, but the steel armour "let Jolt break itself" tactic won't work so well now; I can just dial the weapon power down to a safe level and not break anything.

If I was trying to beat me, I would build a CO2 powered axe or a really powerful flipper.

Back on topic; has roadkill been designed to run inverted? It looks like Plan F would have lots of fun bouncing roadkill and cobra off the arena roof if they get inverted

To be honest, the way plan f's going it'll be bouncing every robot off the arena roof! We just have less chance of being flipped... then ouch.
LOL i wonder if we'll have a hit like the team cosmos boys got with their inverted drum bot! Shocked

I said "powerful" Razz Laughing Seriously though, I will look forward to going up against some flippers at Robowars in Janurary. Incidentally, I just had a very cool idea for a featherweight version of Warrior SKF. It probably exceeds my skills but I have to start CADing it to see

Andrew and I designed several kinetic flippers round a year ago for featherweights and the original plan for Vertex back 3 years ago was for a flipper powered by the flywheel to take out Jeff F's Heavy design.

Hardest part we found was getting the energy transferred effeciently, bestone we had was an electronic clutch which was 2kg and would easily take 4-5HP.... Let us know how you go with your designs Nick...

hehe Nick the problem with flipping you is your ground scraping wedge(s)

they make it very hard to get under you, though the new design with less will make it easyier.

also the overhead axe still has to get past your spinning blade...
though I have an idea for a ghetto axe bot with a lot of power

also a ghetto anti Jolt idea that might actually do something to you!

Remember that there are 2 x Barrels in the RoboWars arena Wink

Sufficient driving skill will allow you to use these barrels as buffers against doomsday spinners.

Something tells me I'd better have a few spare barrels on hand though..

I've got a few anvils sitting around home I could bring to put into the arena. Jolt VS large 35kg steel anvil, Anvil to win hands down Razz
