Now that I have started re-building Prancing Queen from the ground up (the weapon hub out actually) I have deceided that she needed her own thread.
Details:
type: Dome spinner
Drive: 2x 9.6V drills run at 7.2V
Weapon: Dual mini-EV powered dome spinner run at 14.4V with 5:1 reduction.
Speedos: RC car speedos
Weapon switch: dunno yet
Batteries: 3x 7.2V GP3300 NiMH packs
Construction materials: 9kg LP gas bottle for dome and UHMW polyethelene chassis.
The origional PQ was built just as a muck around go-between while I built Hellbringer but I have had so much fun I have deceided to give her a serious rebuild. Instead of the previous "bolt/cable tie it on where it fits" type build method she will now be carfully machined. One thing I have learnt about these spinners is that the weapon axial/hub is the most vital part of the whole robot. Without them the robot is useless. So today PQ started machining down the 36mm steel bar for her new axial on my new lathe.

The axial will need to take two different sized tapper roller bearings (larger on the bottom, smaller at the top) that will be pressed into the two piece hub that I will start tomorow. _________________ Get Some!!!

That is one disgustingly clean lathe.. You can tell its being operated by a girl.. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

Some RC car speedos have a reverse delay. Boat RC speedos will go strait from forwards to reverse without delay.
Your obsession with that doll is disturbing. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

The reason why the lathe is so clean is that I only bought it yesterday from the best shop I have ever seen.
http://www.machineryhouse.com.au
. If only I had more money and space.
I have already got the speedos and have been playing around with them and yes there is a 1sec delay before they will go in reverse. Also the lower voltage and smaller wheels I will need will only give her a top speed of around 4.5km/hr. But since Prancing Queen is all weapon she doesn't need to move fast.
As for the doll, she's funny. She spends her time to and from comps sitting up in the back seat of the car looking out the rear window.
Besides, who can resist a blonde? _________________ Get Some!!!

LOL! Would you want a girlfriend who could bitch slap you at 220+km/h PQ is one nasty girl, at the last event, someone tried to push her into a corner and she started slapping them to death... Then there was Vertical Limits who tried to lift her skirt up and went home toothless _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Andrew, would you ask the Queen if she would make me some aluminium hubs for my wheels? I can give you more details so that she can work out a price if she is interested. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

I can answer that.
Imagine a 23 year old bloke standing in the toy section of Target pulling all the dolls of the shelf and complaining because he can't find one dressed in pink. It seems the femenist movement beat us.
And Philip, I'll have a go at some wheel hubs. I have some new omni wheels arriving that I need some hubs for too, so I might as well do some extra for the fun of it. Just need the wheel bore size and the wheel width.
Where do we get aliminium? I've only got steel bar that I have been, errrrr, liberating from the wharehouse at work.

The origional idea for the robot came to me while watching the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Several large floats shaped like giant dolls came into the stadium and started spinning in circles and I thought that would be a great idea for a robot.
As for looking for a pink doll I thought if you are going to make a girlie looking robot you might as well go all out with it. It is actually very difficult to find a doll dressed in pink these days. _________________ Get Some!!!

how much did that nice hafco lathe set you back?
The lathe was about $1200 with stand (AL-50A in the Hare & Forbes catalogue) plus another $200 odd for the tooling. _________________ Get Some!!!
