From what I can remember the area where the pits were last year had carpet on the floor and we had to go into a little kitchen/bathroon (I didn't pay attention when in there) to do any cutting or messy work.

IIRC there was like a workshop out the back of the go kart track with welders and what not in it for grinding. the pits are sort of like a little function room so youd probably not want to bust out the hardcore tools in there.

Bulk Answers Time Smile

The Arena floor is made of Painted YellowTongue floorboard. AFAIK its not the evil MDF.. Wink and remember, research causes cancer in Rats.

We are up to 26 confirmed entries already !

Awaiting on news from The Planners, Jeff-J, ChrisJon, Wayde, Timmeh, David, Nic, Ajax, DumHed, Philip (if Aaron manages to drag him along). a possible 3rd Kero Bot, and a couple of newbies. so a full field is looking pretty good !

If we exceed 32, the rookies will go through a "pre-qualifying" mini-tournament to knock their numbers back a bit and make sure their bots are going to hold together for a fight or two (to prevent byes later).

The pits do have a carpeted floor, and we would naturally prefer that any drilling, filing etc that would be hard to vacuum up be done in the little storage room at the back.

Any serious steel work will be done down in the workshop under supervision. Grinders in the pits are definitely out, and we would prefer sawing and drilling be done in the storage room. Soldering and hammering that doesnt leave spiky bits in the carpet are ok.

Clear a spot for Vincent - I'll even test him and find some time for the relay controller - LOL . If accommodation becomes a problem for anyone , I have a fair amount of room and workshop available . Brett - be careful messing with the draws , if its random and you draw someone you know - that’s bad luck , anything else and you may get complaints .

I agree, while I know it is random and luck of the draw I would hate to end up against Jolt first round! Razz

everyone wants to fight someone new!

I dont think it matters what state you are from when it comes to facing Jolt in the fist round, Its gonna suck regardless. lol

My campaign for this event is called 'Dead robot walking'.
A robot with a 3mm aluminium body in todays standards is fighting on borrowed time.

Probably my way of accepting the reality that I could be out of the event in the first round but so could anyone else for that matter.
The draw will to a great degree determine the finalists.

On a seperate note will have some accom available if anyone has any dramas.
Have offered accom to Andrew A. and his kids so far so could fit some more if anyone requires it.

Very true, but remember, robots like Razer fought against the odds with thin armour and slow weapons and low powered drives, yet won large amounts of events. Don't give up, give them hell all the way Twisted Evil

You should be just as worried (or more so) about a first round with Plan-F and Jeff Ferrara's new undercutter. I'm hoping to draw a VIC bot just to avoid those two...

Sounds like some fun Cool I'm currently more worried about Scoopy Doo and Bender. I don't fancy a saw blade through my IBC or NiCd Packs Confused

I'm happy to have my chassis and armour mashed by Jolt, because armour is ment to get mashed, but I don't want things like the IBC getting cut in half.....
