Hey Gary, that would be fun, Id love a match against Meastro-Ive got to
get started sorting Chips electrics into something reliable(aarg!), but
Im sure hell be a lot more ready next time around-see if my anti-Meastro
shovel blade does the job!-After some thought, I feel it may be wise to
put Sutekh on hold for a while-were going to be busy enough with
Death Pact for quite some time-were aiming to get the motors mounted
and a dummy blade(for weight) onto a test rig so we can get an idea
of how nasty this bots going to be, as well as testing the current draw-Jas

After getting Booed in the Bane Offset fight I am designing a pit. Smile

You wouldn’t include overhead thwacks in that ban would you?

Hay haven’t you built wedges and horizontal thwacks?Smile

Well we were going to use our 3 existing Lightweights, Energize is the oldest.

It’s very similar to Ballistic and has never been finished.

I started building him ages ago to demo to Sidetracked as a pitch for the lightweight class but he finished up on TV as the partly built Cake Taker and got buried after that.

Main problem is getting enough push out of a soda stream to reliably flip a 60lb opponent.

The Idea's Festival will be running non-spinner lightweights. I'm going to let every light enter but after we get the arena I'll politly ask those who I think are a potentional risk to please stay at home.
Just to kick it off I have entered Prowler. It's just the featherweight with the Banebots motors replaced with 300W scooter motors. Seemed easier then removing 1kg of weight. I'll aslo add the orgional lifting arm under the chasis so it will be back to a clamp/lifter.

Very Happy In reference to the active weapon clause in lightweights,Im all for just banning spinning high speed kenetic weapons,if thats what they are called??
Im happy to see a drum bot if the weapon spins slowly and lifts rather than rips,a robot that flails a couple of lead balls is ok for me as long as its low speed ,hammerbots, flippers, lifters, grappling and lifting robots.
Its a bit about inventing something without worring about armour that needs to be bomb proof.

Quote Valen
“Re lightweights, I think the consensus was something along the lines of "spinning weapons limited to half the KE of Plan-B"
I'll work out a number for that later, basically means any saw or grinder is fine and you could still have spinning stuff, but unless your made out of foil its not going to bother you too much.”

Just seeking clarification.
The current Robowars Lightweight strategy is no spinners.
This gives the pneumatic tyred Bots a chance as in King Pincher and Maestro. Also we shelved our partly built Lightweight Drum bot when Sydney announced no spinners for their next Lightweight specific event.

Ideas Festival is described as Non Spinner and we wont to participate there.

So I have to make a decision soon between finishing off Enerjize our lightweight Flipper or our Lightweight Drum whose name I cant even remember at the moment.
I found it..... Hexadecimal Smile His name that is.
Any thoughts Question

Go for the flipper, it will be able to compete at all events. The spinners we are talking about in NSW are not particularly powerful even in feathers, so a little optional wheel armour should see you thru matches at Battleshed.

irrespective of the lack of spinners i think wheel armour is probably a good idea. thinking of a 25kg robot slamming around at 20mph with a huge spike on it here Very Happy

i also did want to try out using some planar blades as an undercutter ala cheese wedge so im not sure if theyd be called spinners. there really tiny (beetleweight size) but would be spinning fast Smile

Another aspect of the limited spinning weapon sitch in the lightweights is, as an EO [once I get the arena up] where I decide to draw the line.

Obviously I wont to keep things as compatible as possible.

Already it seems difficult to accommodate both NSW and QLD as in No spinner / limited spinner.

I must admit I am leaning towards a simple no spinner definition for events that I will be hosting.

So I think I will take Nicks advice and get a move on with Energize.

Probably not going to please everyone but the spinner people have plenty of time to mod their bots for a no spinner event and I wont have to play Solomon.
