When should the next RoboWars be ?

OK, I'm starting to recover my enthusiasm for organising another event, despite enjoying myself thoroughly at the Annihlator, and deciding its much more fun when you dont have a public audience to keep happy.. But I suppose I'll just have to work on getting some more staff helpers (like lachlan and co did at Marayong) and being more organised this time, so I can relax a bit more and enjoy it like Jeff did..

So, its time for me to start thinking about WHEN I actually should do it.

A few people didnt like the December 20 date last year, being close to Christmas and all that, so I thought I'd get some thoughts from the peanut gallery on when would be the optimum date to suit the majority of people. Considerations are

- School Holidays but probably not January since a lot of people have actually gone away on holidays by then. a long weekend would probably be nice, but I dont know if there are any then.

-Preferably no other Major Melbourne events on the same weekend that would push the price of airfares and accomodation for our interstate travellers up

- School Exams and other cant-be-missed things out of the way.

- at least 2 - 3months from now, so I have time to rebuild some bots, advertise, promote, word of mouth the event, etc etc.

- Would like not to clash with any of the NSW guys Marayong rounds, but theres quite a few of them, so maybe if its unavoidable, you could make one of your rounds at our event ?

So its looking like October, November or December to me.

I'd like to try and avoid December this time if possible, since my being self employed means that December and January are always a bit light on cash (self employed people dont get holiday pay), so holding a major-expense event just prior to a no-income time makes the holidays a bit hard on my pocket.

sometime in November would be my first choice, but I dont know how this will fit with the interstaters, so heres you chance to have your say..

And yes, despite some negatives, I'm going to try (no guarrantees YET) and swing a $500 cash prize (maybe plus some sponsor donated parts if I can) into this event, so it will be worth making a special effort for and should encourage some new builders once the world gets out. I will confirm that as soon as I have a date set and cleared with Sidetracked.

Comments please, who wants to come ? when is good for you ? and when is out of the question ? any other thoughts ?

regards

Brett

I think mid November would be the lastest that the event sould be held.
But it really doesn't bother me, as I will be there with bells on. Very Happy

I should be able to make it at least a couple of days if not a week before to lend a hand, to help you out.

If I can sort my secret out I have a bot as well. Razz

Well i would like during school holidayus if possible and if there is a marayong round then we could redate it to like a week ro 2 after if possible.

I should have 2 bots done by then (scrap redone good and a new lifter).

I am easy. WHenevers good for the rest of u but if it could be during school holidays that would be sweet.

We'll be there. My brother wants to make a new Hellbringer for it and I should have fixed all of Adversary's bugs by then. When ever it'll be. I'd perfer late November.
Will it be over one day or two? (another annihilator? Rolling Eyes )

I think 2 days if the sidetracked people will let u. Have maybe instead of tag and ahnialator maybe try and get that king of the hill thing happening. Or we have 1 on 1 comp one day then either a ahnialator or tag team the next day.

So its looking like October, November or December to me.

Ok here I go:
Pretty much scrap November because exams happen all through that month. As you said December is to late, that either pushes it into the new year or back to October. Having a look at the calendar it seems that early october is good...

Satureday OCT 2:
- Its the end of victorian school holidays
- Every other state except tas is on school holidays
- WA ACT NSW SA have a long weekend

I think that that sort of timing is exactly what your looking for...
Someone should double check these dates as I'm not totally sure they are right.

what about the easter holidays next year, its just a tentative suggestion and I know that they only go for 1 and a half weeks but most people dont go away on the easter holidays, there are no major exams that i know of (there probably is in high schools) and around easter, flights and accomodation arent as expensive
ok well, just my 2 cents...

i cant see why all the victorians cant have a couple of smaller events between now and the big one ...why wait ,you all saw the facilities we had at jeffs and surely between all of you an arena of that type cant be organised ????
