even with me standing on it, it was still bending till it exploded the weld on one of the uprights. ouchies. never slowed down the actuator. scary. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Been there, done that. With the weight of the actuator are you turning it into a light weight?

more than likely lol, its not the weight that wont let me stick it in the wood bot its the height its only 12.8kg with it in there _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Why do that when you can make a featherweight?
Mm those bench/vice's are so crappy... _________________ ( •_•)

dont go copying my idea of making horizontal crusher
still gonna do that soon i hope . Got most materials and stuff and just need few items and i can start it ASAP _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

ended up not bothering with making the mounts for the rear of the motors. i just silasticed the motors onto the back of the gearbox, i guess i can make the mounts if it turns out to be a problem but they are so so hard and frustrating to make i really dont want to have to make them unless its neccessary, dammit andrew you make everything look so easy lol.
did a bit of grinding on the internal panels, and yes you can grind MDF without it flaying apart! just use the flap disk and stop breathing lol so much dust. now the batteries and relays are a nice fit and all mount in with double sided tape too, not expecting any problems there.
also got the wiring started. sweet jesus its disgraceful lol i reckon there is more wire in this thing than all my other robots combined. might actually start from scratch again.... but i hope to have it working fairly soonish! yay.

lol thats what she said.
but i desoldered it all and am putting it back together, resoldering all the joins horizontally this time so i can close the lid. if that dont work ill remake the lids so they are raised up in some funky ass slanty shape. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

well i wont be a spambot (more so) and ill just put this here, its all crusher related lol.
edit - new cad
started work on my lightweight. two 7ah slas, two ninchi ra fan motors for the drive, 1:1 ratio on the crusher with a moving bottom part this time and stationary top piece. by doing the bottom piece instead i can have the 1:1 ratio without the actuator getting in the way, and i reckon lifting the other robot up while crushing them will work out well. be interesting to see if itll give the same effect or what.... tried to think it through engineering wise in my head and that didnt work XD
jaw capacity about 20cm for now. only .8mm stainless armour as its all about the powah at the moment, and trying to stop the thing bending itself in half via a massive box section frame.
how big? FARKING HUGE to be precise, like about 800mm long 350mm tall and 450mm wide approx..
if theres weight ill take it up to 36v more of a show piece at this stage till i magically can afford some speed controllers for it lol but itll be a cool ornament. heres a mega early cad of it barely anything in there but thats the idea, still got to draw up a nice looking jaw to put in there, all my test ones look so bland... _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

100watt scooter motors will go better then the Nichi Ra fans, they are lighter and easier to work with... _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

i doubt the 1 set of scooter motors i have will cut it, i can stall the shaft with my hand at 24v indicating fairly high levels of crappyness on there behalf. at least the nichi ra motors will bolt onto the frame somewhat easier and make it a half decent machine power wise.
