ComBots Cup - $10,000 Top Prize Robot Event

Miss fighting robots? Well, now's your chance to compete and come out with a hefty bankroll!

Combat Robots return to San Francisco this fall for the inaugural ComBots Cup — a 220 pound Heavyweight Open, with the first place winner taking home TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS (€8,100 / £5,500 / AU$ 13,000) as well as the hundred-pound ComBots Cup (which will make the Stanley Cup look like a dixie cup.) If you’ve already got a heavyweight robot or have been meaning to build one, now’s your chance to go for the largest payout in the history of the sport!

The event is not limited to Heavyweights - we are also doing a SuperHeavy (340 lbs) and MiddleWeight (120 lbs) event (although the payout won't be as large.) So if you've got a bot, bring it! We're even doing a Robo-One event for those with Androids.

ComBots (organizer of ROBOlympics/RoboGames and the RFL National Championships) will host the event in San Francisco at Fort Mason on Sat-Sun, November 12-13th. I really hope that you can make it for this event - to keep the sport growing, we need to have as many contestants show up as possible! Let's show the world that this sport is alive and thriving!

For more details on the event, go here: http://combots.net/contestants.php (this page will be updated constantly.)

To register for the ComBots Cup Open, click here:
http://www.buildersdb.com/eventdetail.asp?eventid=148

We also desperately need sponsors for this event. As little as $100 or as much as $50,000 - we'll take it! If you or anyone you know can help, please contact me or download a sponsorship kit here:
http://combots.net/combots-sponsors.pdf

I'm really hoping to get a huge turn-out of robots in all three categories to ensure that I can keep doing these events. So please register today!

I found this news report about the event.

quote:
Before the three-minute timer is up, Megabyte's wedged edge manages to flip the boxy Biohazard over and, like an upturned cockroach, the match is over for Biohazard.

Huh? Shouldn't it be the other way around? How could Megabyte out wedge Biohazard?

*edit* Does anyone know who won the event? Or any thing about the other weight classes?

You've never heard of how many screws hold BioHazard together ? Rumour has it, it took him hours to change a wheel.

Frame is probably Ali, but the Skirts were Titanium IIRC.

I think thats the first time I've ever seen anything except his arm badly damaged. But for a bot that has basically stayed the same since BattleBots season 1, he's done pretty darn well.

I found some other photos showing the torn top covers, but can't find them again. It seems that my guess was right that a spinner would catch the skirts at the corners where it looked like there was a 2 or 3mm gap and pull them off. I'm pretty sure it was still moving after 3 minutes.
Well it took them 7 hours to get it back into the arena. I reakon I could have beaten that time. Cool

And Carlo says Biohazard will be back.
