oatley motor specs

hi. does anybody know the stall amps for any of the oatley electronics motors, espesially the 300w and 200w Very Happy , i need to do some calculations to see if a robot design is plausible.

well if no one can tell me the stats, could anybody at least tell me if they think that i could run a feather weight with two 300w oatley motors on 2 2000mah 12v batteries in series or 4 2000mah 12v batteries in series and parallel.

I had the original design of roadkill set for using two 300w motors.... but it won't leave you much weight spare! Not sure about the batteries. Smile

What typ of battery? nicad\nimh?

24v 2amp should be enoughf in a feather with a decent gear ratio not too fast.

Id be going the 200watt motors for more runtim as you wouldent be able to get enoughf wheel traction for a 300watt to be worth it.

Eaven 200watt would spin the wheels.

ive found a really cheap source of nicads thats why im looking at this design, also its for a thwack bot. the batteries are 12v 2000mah and are around 700g. there replacement drill batteries for the bosch 3300k, they are only "$26", ohh yeah Very Happy.
there from www.global-batteries.com.au
look around for different sites and at all of the batteries beacuse the difference between the 2000mah and the 2200mah is about $50.

Hmm nice site!
I think you should go for 100w motors honestly... not only do they have a huge run time on only XU1 batteries.... but they're lighter and easier to setup... have you seen how fast reboot spins? Smile I think they'd work well for a twack bot (i've secured some for it!) Very Happy

i think youd be lucky to get a noticable power different between 100w scooters at 36v and the 200w ones at 24v.

on the subject of batteries i think on the 200w versions would really be pushing the friendship on 2ah of batteries.

how the?

theres probably a reason for it..... as in the 2000mah batteries being low grade and low current, but id be interested to know how they go so rock on Smile

1.2amp

If your using drill batterys id go with 100watts. as they have lots of power and you get the whole drive train with them and they dont weight too much.

Over volt them as glen sed to 36v if you want heaps of thwacking power.

1200mah-1300mah, 44g, 100A short circuit current (good for 40amps for a second or two really though )

how are you going to do the drive on it? i thought oately was sold outta the chain kits

i hadnt thought of the chain prob, but i only need the motors soon beacuse i need to build the frame around it, and im not going to be able to build it very quickly beacuse of limited funds so ill buy one when there back in stock or ill find some somewhere else. the idea of using the smaller engine with higher volts isnt bad but it would be good to know how much power each had, there is only a 500g difference with either setup.

You would prob get about 200watt out of a 100watt motor at 36v if you realy do get 4x the power bye doubleing the voltage of a motor.

If you go the bigger scooter motor you kneed bearings shaft sprockets eaven if you get the stock sprockets from oatly you kneed bearings and kneed to get a shaft and make a hub for the wheel and somehow fit the srocket to the shaft.

Id be going the 100watt setup if you are limated on funds and if this is your first bot.
