Some new drive options.

This is the inside of a $39 ozito screwdriver. The insides are basically a 1/2 scale drill gearbox. metal gears and all Smile

My intention is to take the $20 xu1 branded ones which should be 100% the same inside, remove the last stage of gearing and with the 380 size motor running on 3s with only one stage thatll yield 1300rpm Smile

I think these would be basically bulletproof with a little work.

So does anyone have a good source for non-metal flap gearboxes?

All i know is in true Chinese tradition my 1200rpm motors were half half. Evil or Very Mad Ebay is a gamble, the pictures mean nothing.

Can anyone tell me what the latest options for Beatle drive gearbox/motors??

I'm looking for something kind of cheap. I bought a pair of the Ebaay 1000 rpm things, but they are not a planetary, just some spur gears.

I guess that I am looking for something close to the old Banebots 24mm gearmotors.

Thanks

Lots of people use the 1000rpm spur ones they are ok for beetles.

The issue with them is that some chinese manufacturers of the motors have decided that the don't need copper brushes. And have just started leaving the flaps which spring the brushes onto the commutator without them.

This means they have really high resistance at this point and sweet .... all power.

I found a guy on ebay selling them for around $16 per pair...how do I know if the motors are any good?

Any other sources outside of kitbots?

My complaint still stands, the ebay sellers are completely random, hit and miss, I got two types in the same order one with real brushes the other with the copper flaps and unusable. No known reliable sellers...

I can source the gearboxes easy enough from our gearmotor supplier, but cannot get a decent motor to match the specs of the eBay ones Sad
