Possible replace drill motors!!

Check these out peeps.

http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=418&CategoryID=71

I have emailed the people who sell them to ask if we can get a pic of the gears inside and asked what are they made of but going bye the other motors iv read up on i think they are all metal.

Hopefully these will replace drill motrs as they are 388 grams in weight and pretty much the same size of a drill motor and gearbox.

Will post details and what info i get back asap.

In the mean time heres some other motors they sell>

Hmm, they look pretty.. but..

> Current (at 9.6v locked shaft) = 9.1A
> Output Power = 63.2W

Thats a lot less than then 200-400 watts you get out of a drill motor Sad

Perhaps you could adapt the gearbox to an RS-550, or maybe the LS-550 when over-volted would be a bit gruntier, but I'll bet it (and the gearbox) wont be too reliable when you more than quadruple the power going through it..

They look like a nice 'little' package, probably not so good for our featherweights, but I would say they would be a killer setup for some hobby weights.

I also noticed this in the top paragraph:

quote:
The PGHM 1-5 and 8-10 motors appear to be able to handle 24vdc for short periods. Perfect for robot competitions. The planetary gearbox assemblies are made from Aluminum and are very strong. The gears are metal.

I might just have to pick myself up a pair for my hobby weight. Cool
