17cm ?? What are you making it out of - Lead ?

Most of them are are a good 40-50cm on a side, some of the bigger ones are over 100cm on a side..

Well it can be as big or as small as u want really. but the bigger u have it the thinner the armour and harder in weight.

Gary build ig robots but thin armour and the air gap technique. Ko and Cobra dn even scrap has everything as tight as possible and the max armour possible. Size doesnt matter though its the robot and driver that matters.

It's not the size that counts but what you do with it.

Wink

Omicron's 11inches sqaure by 3 inches high under the spinner, which is roughly average. But really, it doesn't matter, it's just how your design works.

i think 30cm by 40cm rectangle is a decent sise for 12kg bot it depends on how your robot is supost to work it could have a little body two wheels but with a big disc on the front or whatever
lust look at what your bot is supost to do.say if you had a lifter bot it might have a small body compared to 90% of the other bots but it could have a big lifter on it.its a hard question to answer i just look at the most sucesfull bots and there size and think if my bot is this big will it have a chance against that bot you cant biuld it perfect theres allways gonna be a smaller bot then yours or a bigger one so look at at what you will be competing against and decide you may have a big bot but it has weak drive motors and the other person has a small bot half your size but they have magmotors for the drive.theres lots of things that contribute to its completed size like where the parts have to go to move the wheels or the weapon.

I actually have adopted the practice of making my bots fit into a standard suitcase. Had a nylon one sitting around bought from a market real cheap and was pleased that it could fit Pinscher and all its bits and pieces.
So will set this as my limit, even my lightweight will fit in a suitcase. Size of Pinscher is 720 long, 330 wide and 150 tall. Came in handy when i had to catch a plane and will come in handy again so just something to consider.

When I designed my bots, i try to keep them as small as possible, usually making them a general pain in the ass to work on, but so far, both Annihilation and Haemorrhage have fitted within 300mm x 300mm x 120mm in body size. Both running drills, 7amp SLA's and each with a weapon. Armour is a sacrifice with only 3mm ali, but no one has really done much to it except for Plan B and it missed all the innards.
