well i might me able to make something of a "bush basher bot" over here just wanting to know what the actually rules and weight restictions might be cause i'd probly build a spinner.

hell a new set of rules might be needed for this sport
due to the unusuallity of it, Ie a rule for an arena is one thing but for somewhere small stones could fly free is another.

All the small talks we've had out at the House of Carnage events have so far put spinners out of the running, mainly because just like a normal arena you need large amount of polycarb to protect people. Going all terrain will hopefully push people away from high speed spinners and into cleverly created lifters, flippers, crushers, hammerbots and possibly even a new breed of rambot!

If Nick decides he wants to really kick off the All Terrain idea, I might have to lok at borrowing some parts back from my electric skateboard Cool

OK. We have put an idea together.

On reflection we have decided that the RoboWars rules are a bit restrictive in an all-terrain environment. I am willing to go out on a limb. Here is my pitch:

We propose a new form of combat: UltiBot – no-rules (well.... few rules), all-terrain combat for robots.

So you want to be an Mad Scientist/Evil Overlord?

Have you always wanted to build a linear accelerator? A rail gun? Or some other semi-futuristic weapon/defence?

Here’s your chance. Form a team or go solo. Start with an R/C truck, build a LINUX based autonomous killing machine, or build a fixed terror weapon.

When? Australia Day, 2006.

How much does it cost? No charge to enter the competition.

What will be provided? An open air arena (including Lexan shields – for obvious reasons), FAQ, rules, gameplay, organisation.

What to bring? An Evil Weapon. For obvious reasons the weapon must be remote controlled or autonomous. It does not have to be mobile. You can work with others to form teams, with some members providing fixed defences, others providing mobile forces (ie weapons mounted on R/C trucks or whatever).

Can I tell my friends? Of course. This is open to all.

Interested? For FAQ, Rules, Gameplay, details, etc contact me ( aeldric at hotmail.com ), or join the group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UltiBot/

Have Fun.

So... what are the rules? Surly you cant mount a revolver to your bot, it would go straight through the lexan... Sad

sounds like an evil firing range to me mwuahah

so is it weapon vs weapon combat or is it just showing off the coolest insanest weapon you can build? a bit unclear in the post.

is there a better way to celebrate our countries day than blowing up a small portion of it Cool

That is right. Projectiles must be tethered or aerodynamically slowed (or whatever) to ensure that they cannot penetrate the shield at a range of 5 m or less.

It is weapon vs weapon combat, but teams are allowed.

There are weight limits, basically, for details see the rules. I will send them to you if you are interested, or join the Yahoo group and download them.

I'm not too keen on the whole Linux/Windows computer controlled idea. Makes it hard for a lot of people and having read a lot about the darpa challenge, doesn't seem to effective.

Not to put you off Subkor, but I think this class is a little spaced out for current times. Railgun and flamethrowers are cool, but in all honesty, people have enough trouble making a railgun that doesn't arc itself to death, let alone build one that can fire from a mobile plantform with less then 48v battery source...

I'm all for the all terrain idea, but autobots and crazy weapons drive me away.

EDIT: Removed bias from including Linux but not Windows
