RC cars, planes, boats, heli's etc talk

Didn't post this in build reports 'cause it aint a robot and it's basicaly finished! Sorry andrew, but I found a use for it! Maybe you can have it when I grow tired of it! It's basicaly an rc car overvolted to 12v as compared to 7.2 . The batt pack is from a drill, and it has a rotary speed control. Am yet to test it (as batts are charging... Twisted Evil )

Also, as a side note, I am REAL happy because I discovered that a local hardware store that I thouoght sucks has a HUGE selection of metal, wood and plastic (possibly some polycarb)! And plus... It's cheaper than bunnings! (well, some things are...)

Been there, done that Razz Melt this, burn that Twisted Evil

Is that an old Tamiya Frog? I ran a drill pack in my Kyosho Alpha 155 and I killed the rotary controller. I believe this is because I have a Kyosho Megamotor 12turn double which will kill a 1900mah race pack in under 3mins and melts Tamiya battery connectors like hot glue (I now use automotive spade connectors) Very Happy

I'll pull the Kyosho out tommorow morning and get some snap shots for you minus the back swing arms and suspension (that's another story). Also, if your running it on 12v, make sure you have a motor that has replaceable brushes, becuase I lost about 25% life out of mine in just 30 secs before the rotary controller melted.

hey angus,

if u ever get sick of it i will buy it off u in an instant easy.

i could get that thing working in 2-3 days tops using left over three speed boards from first version of scrap, drill nicads and current radio gear (may buy cheap 2 channel for it if i can buy it from u).

Also would make a sorta off road buggy rollcage frame.

hope it all works well for u dude but the offer stands if u do get sick of it.

Ok, cool. Sorry for the dead links. Embarassed
I'm not sure what the car exactly is, but It does look like a frog my friend has. I havn't blown the rotary speed control yet, and it all seems fairly sturdy to me. The steering sucks though, need to fix that. It's FULL of raw power, last night, I knocked over a chair with it! (and rammed itinto my food, ouch!)

nah the best lego thing i ever made was a leggo man catapult however i think it would almost qualify as a lego SMG Smile used a 550 looking motor and a bout 6 paddlepop sticks superglued toggether for strength. it had a clip and everything basically the men were in the clip and forced into the chamber with a rubber band mechanism once the motor started spinning it launched the little lego men head first towards the target BRILLIANT FUN untill you run outtamen because they all got lost
Laughing

Update! "The beast" has been, um, written off would be a suitable term... After crashing full speed into a wall by some jerk at school (don't ask) and all the componants came loose (servos, reciever etc...), I stripped it down to basic parts to get crackin' on cataclysm (my robot). Andrew, how much were you offering? Laughing

if its still all working drive train system and frame ect like i saw when u brought last build day then hows about 30 bucks. If u think it is too low we can negotiate or swap it for parts or whatever. I still have scraps weopon system if your interested in a weopon for your next robot or something.

I have a heap of scrap metal and red wheels, two fan motors, one is with scraps weopon system which is all ready to go mounted on 5mm metal plate to be bolted to something.

I DO NOT want to see that thing go to waste though as it is super cool and ill make it groovy if i get my hands on that thing Smile.

PM me your msn adress so we can chat bout this online or something.
