I don't want them to close together, I was fliping between 2 & 3 months, I decided that holding the events in 3 month intervals would suit me, around school term holidays. We may have more interstate fighters Confused
So 4 fairly big weekends of Robowars Smile

I agree, I think that four arena tournaments with the biggie in December would be good, ok maybe not enough for some people but with only four tournaments a year, you would expect get a good turn out of roboteers and punters than with events that are more routine. Although we have access the arena, I feel its a bit much to ask sidetracked to set it up. Because the arena is portable what if there was say three other events off site, as this would put less of a burden on sidetracked. But when the rubber hits the road Brett, Gary and Sidetracked are the captains of this ship.

As well as the Robowars event could we fit in a monthly build meet, we can fit in a bit of low key fighting on these meets, no serious damage.

After the competition we realised that a meeting like this may have given us a chance to recognise the weaknesses in the robots, ReBoot’s belts breaking, Steel rats motors burning out because of the more batteries it is carrying, and Fragmentor ballistic dance it went into those times when the relay stuck using the new weapon motor, all problems that the testing would have shown up.

The extra driving practice is important also, I had not driven ReBoot out of my bedroom before the competition, the arena floors a lot more slippery then my carpet is. Very Happy

Two months is good. mixed with back yard & public events.

You all need to remember now that the robots are causing more damage now. so repairs are going to take longer. just look at IG. There is some major panel beating needed on that bot. (IG needs a panel beater sponsor)

so having the event to close will mean that some bots will only compete 50% (or less) of the time due to repairs.

Thats not what we want.

another thing is the cost. big production like Robowars is good to have, but it is the back yard events that will keep the sport alive, and now that the arena can be setup anywhere, this makes it more fesable.

all sounds very constructive guys. nice work

@ Ajax- sorry if this sounds rude or comes scross as a little harsh but if u can not fix a robot in less than 3 months somethings up.

speak to prong, bort and chrisjon. they have built their robots in record number of hours/days and they have done very well.

if it was a event every monthe then yeah but 1/4 of a year space between. come on.

Andrew thats fine.

I'm looking at having as many robots turn up to each event as possible.

If the events are to close together, it starts to become very hard to continuly fix your bot for the next event.
Not only that but the costs start to build up as well.

all i'm getting at is if the events are to close together there will only be a limited number of bots avalible at each event. I would like to see every bot from the state turn up to every event.

maybe just transport the arena somewhere out of the way and have your battles, i guess thats why it was made to be portable eh?
