The House of Carnage is on its way to getting done. The panels are to be made be me next week and the polycarb is to be ordered from mulfords asap.
Hopefully the arena will be finished by christmas and will be ready for events.
Its about time for another queensland event so how is the sunday 21st of January for everyone.
I would like to encourage everyone to come and if there is any problems with this let us know and we'll see what we can do. _________________ Steven Martin

Arena will be 3.5m by 4.7m if i remember correctly. There will be two 2400 x 600 veiwing areas. The arena will be screened by 6mm polycarb. The starting height of the veiwing area is 1.2m.

Yes, Marto, I know this thread is here, but I've been rather busy.
We'll be there with what we've got left after coming back from Melbourne. _________________ Get Some!!!

I have finished the panels and they are to go in tomorrow.
These were not as cheap as i had hoped but they are good and should provide us with at least 2 x the veiwing area at kilkivan and i double anything less than a middleweight would be able to get through the 16mm of ply and then theres wire mesh down the bottom half.
All we need now is the polycarb but nic is finding it a bit hard to get on to mulfords. However I don't think that it should be a problem getting it here by th 23rd.
Anyway nic has paid for this arena and has offered to allow people to use it whenever they like so to help cover the cost of some of the materials I think there will have to be an entry fee. I think maybe $10 or something each just to try and help reimburse the $1500 to build it and the cost of maintainence.
I don't want to scare anyone off because of an entry fee if you can't aford it don't worry but i think it is necessary to pay off and try and maintain the arena. _________________ Steven Martin

I got a call from SideTracked earlier today.. apparently the mulfords melb guy thought it would be easier it get it here as well, so there is supposed to have been a sheet arrive at sidetracked today for you.
I havent confirmed it yet, but it should have arrived, and if so I can send it back up north with Andrew (vertex), or you can get a shipping company to pick it up. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people
That would be good can you see if andrew can fit it on there trailer the panels are inside the shed and the polycarb is pretty much all we need. If he can't could you give nic a ring and he will organise getting it shipped up here. He would also need to know who to pay. If andrew can fit it on the trailer can you let us know and when he's going through toowoomba give me a call on 46140065 or 043276130 and i'll give him directions. Dunno whether its better to get him to drop it at my place or to the arena but thats not really a problem.
I will give nic a call and tell him whats happening tonight he was beginning to wonder why they weren't getting back to him. So if possible can you confirm that its there and tell me if andrew can bring it back.
Anyway went out this morning and put the panels inside the shed. Its looking good i will go out during the week and finish putting em up and if andrew could bring the polycarb we can get most things finished before chirstmas. _________________ Steven Martin

the money is in the bank.... I just need to know where to send the $$'s.
I really don't mind the cost of building the arena Marto, I'm looking forward to having a full-tilt testing arena at home (besides not having to travel for local competitions) but really, I don't require an entrance fee for people to use the arena for testing, etc... just bear in mind that if you break something guys - then you will help to fix it...
but on that, Marto has done a brilliant job on the interior fortification of the arena, the panels being strong - with easy replacement ply panels reinforced with sturdy mesh in welded frames.
damn it looks GOOD _________________ There is no such thing as excessive carnage.
Well u can't say i didn't suggest the entry fee. Would everyone like an entry fee for prise moeny then say a few $$ per robot and then the winner can take 1/2 and the runner up a 1/4 then put the other 1/4 towards maintainence?
really doesent worry me i'll pay whateva. Thou it prolly would get expensive for us and team vertex as we hope to be entering 5 robots ands andrew and arron have a few. so any ideas? _________________ Steven Martin

I think a $10 donation per robot per event that goes to the EO is a good idea. There will always be something that Nick will need to repair or upgrade. This money will allow that to be done.
I don't like the idea of prize money myself. A small trophy would be fine or maybe the winners name engraved on a panel on the wall.

yeah i like the trophy, its easier on everyones pocketbooks.
I move that the $10 entry fee goes to pay for the arena, once again being easier on peoples wallets.
Just my 2cents... _________________ Mr "squirt"
