By the way i've finished my entry... introducing BALLBREAKER! Very Happy
Its my bot for this event. I joined most of the bits with wire winding instead of bolts as it was faster, strong enough for the event and gives the bullbar flex, so it can always stay on the ground. Smile

The tire over the top is to give the electronics some protection. Smile

Angus, looks like you might want to use the mixer in there?

I don`t know about sumo first. I can see burnt out motors and broken gears.?

I think Chris did ask for soccer on Sat a while ago as he can`t make it sunday either? We could pobably fit a round or two of Hungrys in as well couldn`t we?

Eh sounds good. The point is dont nobody stress. Fun is the name of the game. Its a reprieve from the fierce competition and bitch fighting that normally happens Smile

Well, today was soccer, and was a damn fun day! I've now got a scorpion, scooter motors, ev warrior style fan motor AND a wicked Ti bar for a feather weapon. THANKS NICK!!!!! Very Happy Damn i'm so annoyed i'll miss tomorrow, hungry hungry robots will be sooooo much fun!!!

Highlights of today;
> Jolt mysteriously damaged its IBC, so it couldn't compete (maybe its because andrew was driving it? XD)
> Nicks new bot Gulp broke two gearbox's just in testing (metal gears too!)
> Courtney modded tread into a Grue style machine, and in one match was so unbalanced it popped massive wheelies when it drove forward (and had no reverse) Smile
>Refbot was one of the most successful (if not most) robot of the day, pushing the ball slowly but surely into the goal, and no bot could stand in his way...
>In the final at the end, nick discovered gulp's baseplate was actualy perspex as a chunk shattered explosivly across the arena after a massive hit. Shocked

Good luck tomorrow guys, i'll be back in contact in a week. Very Happy

It was a top day today, without the preasure of striving for championship points, constant repairs and just having more time to enjoy each others company. I can`t even remember who actually won the soccer in the end!

I just need a really good sleep tonight and we`ll see what happens tomorrow! Very Happy

@ Jeff: Andrew won the soccer, I just ran interference Laughing

As Gulp's acrylic baseplate has been so badly shattered, I am completely rebuilding it in aluminium Twisted Evil. The improvements are:

Its now smaller but has more gollf ball capacity.
It converts from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive for the sumo event.
It has sweeper arms to catch the soccer ball
It (may) have front & back wedges for sumo

Not much sleep for me tonight...

Well, we spent sunday morning adding golfball scoops to our bots, and eventually Speed Bump took out hungry hungry robots, collecting i think 33 golf balls in the 3 minutes Smile

The Hungry Robot game was a blast, I enjoyed it even more than soccer and there were some very inventive collector designs. Prong eventually won the trophy by beating me in the sumo event (I went on the beat him in an un-official best out of 5 rematch).

My re-make of Gulp lasted very well until we had a final sumo free-for-all, where it lost a wheel and a gearbox broke. Slash stayed in it's POP box and I am already busy re-designing it to fix the spinning problem.

The non-combat event definitely achieved it's aim: we all enjoyed ourselves without stressing out and spent almost as much time building / modifying our bots as we did competing.
