Wireless Camera interferance.

Question: more for Valen & aeldric as you both are working on 2.4Ghz systems.

Will a wireless camera with a 2.4Ghz setup, built into other bots be a problem for your configurations. will it cause any interferance.

There are a few of us that are looking at using them..

possibly,
what are the details of its frequency?
mine can tune over a 100mhz band so it should be able to squese something around the camera.

Sorry I don't have those details.
I do know that they can be set to 4 different channels.

will try to find out some more.

I suspect that a couple of bots wouldn't be a problem, but a lot would be - I will have to look into it.

If it is a broblem we can go to a different protocol (802.11b, WiMax?)

Google suggests that interference should not be a problem (just set your 802.11g routers to different channels - ideally, set to VERY different channels) but some people are finding that interference does sometimes occur, even if channels are seperated by as much as 5.

I guess we need to experiment and find out, but I suspect that if two teams are in a bout, one sets to channel 1, the other sets channel 13.

That sounds like the 2.4ghz cams we sell. There analogue, have four selectable channels, and from what i've seen, they don't really interfere with 802.11 (we have stacks of them running around WiFi setups on all sorts of channels and rarely get packet loss ).

Sorry, I assumed that the camera used an 802.11g card.

Sounds like we should be ok, but we may need to experiment to find non-competing channels.

Thanks all for your Input, I didn't think it would be a problem but it is best to make sure, as well as something to think about when designing or using a 2.4Ghz system.

the testing of the cameras can be done once your systems are up and running, just to make sure, and not give any one any surprises
