how do i lock the mill so its can be used to broach a keyway
Hi gang
I looked through the very informative 3 page instruction leaflet for our mill and cant find any special locking bolt....is there a way of doing this?
if not i might just put it in its lowest gearing and hope it doesn't wander....and go real slow.

You probably don't need to lock the quill to use the mill as a press to broach a keyway - there isn't any sideways force involved so nothing is likely to rotate. Also, you can place the broach under some fixed part of the quill, it doesn't need to be held in a drill chuck or a collet.
What I do is to put the broach guide in the part to be broached and then tap the broach into the guide just far enough to keep it in place. You can then put the whole assembly into the mill and lower the quill onto the top of the broach to push it through the part. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Lower the quill and there will be a pair of vertical slots that line up in the quill and spindle (its so you can put a wedge in to remove the tools). Stick a piece of rod in there _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
