Silly cone grease is O.K.

Got a problem with the ram "O" ring sticking?

Most lubricants get blown away by the gas.
I use any old lubricant... either oil or grease... that I have kicking around.

I've abandoned that ram on the previous page. It was for a single pivot linkage and after testing last weekend with a prototype frame, I wasn't happy with its performance. So I've gone back to a four-bar design which I'm much happier with, but time was spent with the single pivot. O well lessons learnt.
