The current plan is for Don and Harley to take custody of the QRSC arena. The old arena is currently stacked at my parents place and is not really getting used so I think the best use of that will be to ship it up north and see if we can get a bit of a local comp going on up there.
Likely dates are early December. I have Don and Harley looking for a venue. This will likely be a bit of a more relaxed event with the best sportsmans of the year battling it out to see who is the best.

Your parents have been generous in supporting you and the robots.
In the longer term, North QLD might be better suited to winter events rather than mid summer. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Is there any chance of featherweight matches? Just need to set priorities for which bots to work on. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

We're keen to come up with bots, it was pretty sad not having anything at Nats and Ash is now hooked. We'll be coming with sportsmans - just need a date to work with! _________________ ( •_•)

Howdy people,
Update time on the Sportsman event.
Type: Sportsman
Format: Round Robin for qualifiers. But those who have already qualified will be eligible to go straight through to finals. These bots will be announced later on.
Location: Gladstone Qld
Dates: 10th and 11th of December 2016
times: 9am till 5pm Saturday and 10am till 5pm Sunday (rough times, they may change slightly )
Venue: I currently have the choice of 3 vacant warehouses. Which one specifically will be announced closer to the date.
Prizes: To be announced
This is going to be a sportsman only event in the hopes to get new builders in and make it fun and relaxed for the experienced. There is a kicker Flame Throwers will be allowed , under strict rules. The main one will be that the design needs to be first submitted and approved to be able to compete, and if it turns up different to the event will be automatically disqualified. A SERVO ON A CAN WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!, second a flame thrower will not be considered an active weapon
During our normal mid day break I'm looking to have a bbq lunch at the venue for the builders and a table to be booked somewhere (Hogsbreaths depending on numbers) for social builders drinks and feeds saturday night.
That's all I have for now, any questions or suggestions feel free to ask.
Thanks
Don.

Cool, I always wonted to put a flame thrower on Skeletor.
We already have a flame thrower bot; Pyrobot, its flame only, it uses a car petrol injector to control the butane flow. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Are we sticking to the SPARC rule about only using 4 FL OZ of propane or butane? I'm not even sure where to find a butane tank that small that will be safe to use in a bot. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

After reading the fine print on many butane refills, the maximum gas we an use is:
4 fluid oz of butane is 118.81 ml or 113.4 grams
Those plastic refills are only 24 ml, WAY under the limit. My main concern with those refills in general is finding a safe & secure connection that allows a reasonable gas flow and won't come apart while being smacked around in the arena. Could we make our own tanks that can be filled with four of those small refills? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
