The new series includes a raft of technological advances since the show first aired over a decade ago, and viewers can expect to see more innovative fighting machines as teams of amateur roboteers battle it out to win the coveted Robot Wars title.

Does that mean that they will be allowing heavyweight spinners or will this be a standard english competition with better lighting? Plywood floors and easy flip out walls?
I did read somewhere that the weight limit has increased to 110kg and that active weapons are compulsory, similar to the Battlebots rules.

There was mucho talk about spinners months ago so i would assume they are legal for this. We'll see.

I find the increased weight limit curious though across all the shows given the dramatic weight savings of a123/lipo vs SLAs and nicads.

The press release mentions a 'new, purpose-built arena' and after the new Battlebots show, not having spinners would make Robot Wars look cheap by comparison. My bet is that they will invest in some really thick polycarb Smile

The Robo Challenge team is building the new arena. Think feather champs, written large.

One of the things I heard, a 16 000 kg roof....

ah yes, but define "Bullet" Smile

a weedy little .22, a 44 Magnum, or perhaps an GAU8 Avenger round ?

Lets see how "literal" they feel if you were to put one of those on the other side of the polycarb aimed at them and say "Can I push "Fire !" now ? " Smile
