13.6000000kg No more and hopefully no less!

I just plan on using the extra weight for more armour on my bots currently.

@Chrisjon : ah yes, but this time the weight increase is being done for international compatibility reasons, not because people are having trouble getting their bots underweight.. Wink

As far as the buffer zone goes, I suggest *zero* tolerance for overweight bots.

Everyone has a post-office nearby, and I'll bet their scales will be fairly accurate and calibrated to a standard. To anyone wanting to calibrate their own scales, I suggest grabbing a 20 litre plastic drum from the local aquarium or pub or wherever, fill it up with water until your scales read 13.60Kg, then take the drum down the post office and ask them to weigh it for you. Take the difference and write it on your scales to correct your measurements by.

If we are going to adopt this standard for international competition, then we need to stick to it. As far as I'm concerned, any bots that read over 13.6Kg on our scales at the next robowars can get out the drill, remove some batteries, or disable their spinners and compete in the lightweight class. so make sure you dont break the limit !

my thaught on that wrt being 50 grams overweight issue was something thusly
assuming your compeditor aggrees
10 second start time penalty per 100 grams

ie the heavyweight bot must not move at all (fingers off the controls) untill their handycap is up.

times subject to change

@Valen

- 10 seconds is a long time in Robot Combat.

You could at least land 2-3 blows in that time.

I say half a second to a second per gram over.

thats the point sam, thats your punishment for building an overweight robot.

and besides dont know if its your wording but 1 second per gram is even worse. half a kilo overweight ala adversary would mean 500 seconds penalty....

thats the point
if its not really a penalty then people will just build overweight bots.
it should be harsh but not too harsh.
yours is twice as bad as mine is
100 grams over is 50 seconds in your one, which is an awefull long time

So is this official. Can I go adding an extra 1.6 kg and not have to remove it?

as far as RoboWars is concerned, we are officially adopting it.

I think the other states are as well, but NSW dont seem to have decided exactly when yet.. I think Qld (or at least Andrews arena) have adopted it already

http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=THERFL&msg=3527.21

thats the link Razz

some of their decisions are wierd... i agree with the hobbyweight to 6kg thing. thats about all from what im reading. unification is a good thing but i HATE having to change things all the time... we only changed to 13.6 recently adding another 1.4kg to that is going to start loading drill motors to the limits i reckon.

im fine with anything changing lightweight and up seeing as though it does effect us, the lightweights and feathers and the proposed increases in weight will probably need some serious changes.

i personally didnt even want to go up to 13.6kg but youve got to try keep up Razz whats the exact problem with what we have now anyway...
