Thanks guys!

I reckon next time I'll add more footage of the other angles and drag out the intros to 5 seconds per bot, instead of 3 seconds. I found it pretty hard to read all the text before the next bot appeared.

Hey folks!

Less than two weeks till our next fight night! I'm keen as! Laughing
It's on the 11th of June, rock up between 5 and 6pm. Message myself or James2 for details.
As always, plenty of spares for anyone to rock up and give it a try.

We've also knocked up a facebook group to show off our matches and bots a bit more and to advertise when our meets will be.
We will keep it up to date with dates and times of our nights. Check it out!

Just realised today that Owen and I won't be able to make it on the 11th, sorry! June is turning into a busy month. I'll chat to Mike (and family) and Greg to see if any of them are coming, if so they can borrow our bots if needed.

A few days left till our next Adelaide fight night!
Remember, you don't need to have a bot ready. Everyone is welcome to have a go with our spares or even watch!

Please message James2 or myself if you're interested in having a go. We can give you the address and details then.

You can also jump onto our Facebook group and message your interest to us there.

June fight night recap!

Another night done and another great turn out!
We saw (I think) about 6 new comers this month, some with their kids too.
The newcomers that competed used our several spare bots. The only exception was with Damian who surprisingly rocked up with a dual-phone-web-based-controlled bot called Slow Mo. He knocked it up in the days leading up to our event after finding us on Facebook!

This month's tournament was a single elimination tournament with 10 competitors. In the first round of matches, the last two drawn names got byes.

Our tournament line up:
- Oliver with Roach
- Matt with Grey Dynamo
- Chris with Green Devil
- Josh with Screw It
- Ben H with Don't Need Roads
- James with Orange Dynamo (original and still the best Smile )
- Damian with Slow Mo
- Ben K with Brown Dynamo
- Mark with Blue Dynamo
- Alicia with Green Dynamo

The tournament was excellent and the winner of this month was James!

Here's the tournament highlights video:

Question (if anyone knows how to embed YouTube videos in this forum, please let me know!) Question

We also had a couple exhibition matches between myself, James and Ben H.

- The first was between my Shrapnel and James's Orange Dynamo. James beat me efficiently by getting Shrapnel into the pit!

- The second was between my Shrapnel and Ben's Don't Need Roads. This match went on for a while until we ended it due to damage to Ben's bot. Turned out to be one of the most destructive matches ARC has seen!
Here's a video of that fight:
https://youtu.be/51fVMvtIf0c

The only annoying thing that came up this month was the arena had it's first couple faults during a fight night:
- The Arduino program had a few glitches due to a new version I threw on to allow the use of a little LCD control module (coming soon!). I uploaded the older (working) version and problem solved. Debugging ahead for me! Sad
- The Arduino would reset every time the green pit solenoid activated. We think that there might be some damage to the solenoid or just old age since this is the oldest pit solenoid. (the yellow got added months later) Luckily I have spares, so this will be fixed before the next meet.

Next match will be posted here and on our Facebook group once we've completed the venue booking. Next month we will be at a community centre, so plenty more room!

That's an amazing turnout, I'm sorry we weren't able to make it this month. Maybe that whole Facebook thing isn't a passing fad after all Very Happy
Also good to see some more kids, another new bot, and Don't Need Roads back and better than ever.

I have got a reply from the maker faire group.
Dose anyone have any suggestions on what we could do.
Current list:
Have a demo matches with some of the more destructive bots.
Let people participate with some premade spares.
Have a show case of our good looking bots.

Don't know if we could swing it this year, but as I've mentioned before having an open air featherweight demo would be good. I might have two suitable bots but it depends if a) I get them both built/working and b) they survive Canberra enough to both be usable. Very Happy

Do we know the date(s) for the faire this year?

I don't think an open featherweight would be doable this year.
We will be completing the beetleweight arena and bots for that class before even thinking about featherweights. Not to mention it will be too much to organise for our very first appearance.
I think it's best to not overreach ourselves and end up making a mess of our first Maker Faire.
Showing off what we have, what we currently do and how the community can get involved if they're interested should be our primary goals for Marker Faire.

Yeah, that's fair enough - I agree it'd be better to do something small well this year.

Any luck with the date/location for next month? I want to make sure I don't end up double booked again Smile

If everything goes well when we try to make the booking tomorrow, the next fight night will be on Friday the 15th of July at the Enfield Community Center. Set up from 5pm, registration from 5.30, tournament start around 6 or 6.30pm.

If you end up running late Steve, that's not a problem. We can always do registration on yours (and mike's) behalf and we can run exhibition or rumble matches in the meantime.

We will let you know how we go tomorrow.

I've booked myself to finish a bit early that Friday (can do so with enough notice) so hopefully we get there on time, but it really depends on the Friday, they can get a bit hectic. I'll let Mike know about the likely date/time/location.
