I can't speak for Miles & Jules or Steve, who organise the event, but if they don't want to fork out for the pro LED panels, then if you can get some trough light fittings from an office fit-out, I can skin them in plywood and add handles & cable storage to make custom arena fittings.

Yep pretty sure those dates are locked in….though haven't confirmed with the gallery since last year. Should be meeting with them soon i guess. Most hotels let you cancel 72hours before hand anyway don't they?

Also your invited to stay out our house if you want to save cash Very Happy

thing is as you get closer to the date the cost to book them (and flights) goes up so it is good to get in early

I just booked the hotel; it is much cheaper than last year Very Happy. If I could just pay in advance for all the petrol before it goes up, that would be perfect.

I am at the Metro Hotel Ipswich International for $117 per night. It is the absolute closest hotel to the venue; just across the road. The Aspire rooms looked just a bit nicer but there wasn't much between them.

Beetlebot UPDATE!!

Omg omg sooo freekn happy just spent the arvo diagnosing just how bad i fried my speed controllers 4 years ago..... turns out after a bit of detective work and some very fancy repair work i now have both my old scorpion mini v2.4 speed controllers up and running again.. the over sized battery still works and is good for test runs but really are too heavy, whats the consensus on decent beetle weight batt pack?

>And no problems ill keep an eye out for the lights how many do you think?

Hi Mark we have used these on our beetles
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__35537__Turnigy_nano_tech_1000mah_4S_25_50C_Lipo_Pack_AU_Warehouse_.html

We will probably only be having feathers in competition for nats this year. The beetles are good, but hasn't been many beetle events for a while unfortunately. I think its mostly because feathers are more common so more chance of competitors turning up when we stick with the most popular weight range.

But bring it along we would love to see it. Very Happy

Nick like the idea of those led fluro lights Very Happy One of our video led lights at vivid had turned off on the roof, but I checked em today and they are all working so might have been a cord bump.

glad you approve - I will get started on the light fittings. I figure that building a long cord and a reel will save effort and possibly yanked connections.

Hey Mark! Im trying to make my first beetle atm and hopefully it will be done for nats.
I think there are plans in the works for two bots similar to the vivid ones for the audience to use, BUT we will also need exhibition bots.

The Vivid bots were great and real crowd pleasers. What themes will the new ones be?
