As Andrew isn't driving up with me, I can come up a day or two early to help out if you want - just let me know.

Hey Nick ...sounds genius. Very Happy We usually setup the arena the day before, so this time will be the 3rd of oct i guess. Sean is coming up a few days before to, so it will ail be fun and we should have plenty of hands on deck now.

The ant arena is done, except new polycarb and paint.
I was also given a box full of timer electronics (I think). Am I supposed to figure out how to finish it?

One of them should just work. But you can try if you want. Or Andrew probably could work it out.

Also ask andrew to transfer you cash for new polycarb. A full sheet of 3mm should only be about $150 and just get them to cut the panels to size for you. Anywhere up to $300 is fine for it. But get them to cut it as it will be nicer finish and if they screw it up they have to cut it again. And you can keep offcuts if there is any for putting in the effort to fix up arena.

fixed the latches on the door….and converted the door panel into a middle panel so we can move it anywhere we want now. Then converted a middle panel to a corner…job done in under 2hrs. Very Happy

Lots of "To Do's" discussed today and I think most have been covered. One thing that does require discussing here is the live stream. I've had a quick look at internet options but I need to go to the mobile phone shops tomorrow or during the week to get some extra information, plus check the budget.
Tonight I have created an account on Twitch.com ("robowars_qld"), downloaded Open Broadcast Software, found three different webcams (a 10 year old Logitech, a $10 K-mart special and the one built into my laptop) and I started broadcasting my sleepy face to the world, and no one cared enough to watch. Laughing But it all seems easy to do.
I don't quite have the processor speed to get a smooth picture (need 3.33MHz according to the website) and my cams are a bit blurry but I could do it. Or we could get a bigger computer and a new webcam or 3.

Bare in mind that we might not have the space next to the arena to setup a big computer, so don't get too excited with suggestions.

I have an IInet 20gb/month 4G sim card floating around somewhere which you could use. It could be in storage. Would probably need a 4G modem as I only have a 3G one.

I've been trying to figure out how much internet a live stream connection would use. It confuses me a bit. I seem to think we'd need 30Gb for the 2 days, which would cost $260 from Optus or $300 from Telstra.

If we were in Hong Kong it would cost $3/day for unlimited pre-paid 4G internet.

iinet have 20gb for $80 with excess being charged at $3.75/gb
http://www.iinet.net.au/internet/broadband/mobile/

iirc, iinet utilises the telstra network for its 4g and provides great service in Ipswich

Let's just face it - its cheaper for everyone to fly to Hong Kong and stream the video from there. Laughing
