Just a few things.

Before worrying about the stream we need to work out who is actually going to run the event.
- Important things which we need to confirm are:
- Do they want 2 or 3 days again?
- If 3 how will we fill them (however I put money on it being 2)
- Will they be providing an MC again?
- Will they be wanting a similar display out the front?
- Would they be willing to add another staff member to cover bot wrangling?

As for stream you wont get access to their Internet. As far as I understand their systems are provided by government not sure if that is local or state. But they are flat our having decent internet let alone providing it for streaming.

The 20Gb for $75 is more than doable but you might also run into significant issues when you put 500 3G/4G connections in the room with your streaming 4G connection. Its quite easy to extend this with a router through cabling so you could place the modem at least some distance from people which would probably help.

The Gallery may or may not be onboard with this. IIRC they are required to get approval for any publications or advertising and this could run into issues there. Although they were very keen to setup the streaming TVs and we might be able to do this live to overcome the GoPro issues we had last year and also have someone commentating and switching to the draws. Which could be the way to pitch it.

Keep in mind we are not exactly overflowing with robots and every person you take out of the competition reduces this number by one or two. Increasing the number of builders and robots makes the day less stressful for the EO and people competing. As it means you have more robots for the show and people get bigger breaks.

We also have much bigger fish to fry than streaming so don't get too distracted.

Steve

Well said, its very early days to be planning technical details. Let's concentrate on getting as many bots running for the event. I am confident of having two bots running and if I can find more motivated drivers, there could be three bots. I'm very open to nominations for people with driving skills but no hardware to drive and maintain one of my spinners.

All looking good for nationals guys. We had the meeting on thursday.

The gallery has confirmed sat 4th and sunday 5th of October long weekend. Bump in friday 3rd -bump out monday 6th after 10am.

The gallery want it pretty much the same as last time. They said we can run a live feed if we want ….but their internet is hopeless…so we need to sort something.

Also they asked if we can move the doorway of the arena against the wall. Only problem is we would have to alter the door to open inwards. This will mean we need to do some mods. Maybe next backyard event we can look at what needs to be done if we are going to do this door change?

They are going to rope off a section along the back wall that leads to the main entrance and side door for quick exit…if we had to get a robot outside quickly.

They are happy for us to use the outside repair bay (where everyone stashed the shopping trolleys last year). They will rope this off from the public.

They threw in some extra money for new ant arena walls and legs, big arena floor and door change.

We will put our led filming lights on roof of arena…for extra light and will help with the slow-mo cameras.

Gallery are happy to print flyers, posters and banners…hopefully banner across the road again.

They want Botbitz green ants nest for the kiddies like last year. Not sure about a staff person to run this…need to talk to them again about this.

They will provide mc ...but not the same one as last year unfortunately, as she has left the gallery.

Bot wrangler….they think we need to find someone to do this.

Gallery suggested we do "meet the roboteers" for half an our after lunch on both days. Gallery very keen on this as they have lots of enquires about the robots. Tech stuff etc…I guess it will be a bit of info on us and on how the robots work.

So all sounding good….they are drawing up agreement at the moment so it should all be official pretty soon.

But I'm confident it is happening so start planning and getting your bots ready.
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

You Da Man!!!

Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I will be driving up again, so I can take bots and Lipo packs for other NSW competitors.

Just a thought... For something well into the future... But I reckon if you linked up with one of the Maker Faires, they would love to have you there, and the crowds would be huge.

There was a mini Maker Faire in Sydney last November but I don't see any schedule for Australia this year. Their advertising must suck as I subscribe to Make and never heard about it before Confused.

http://makerfairesydney.com/

They had other robotic events there, so we would probably be welcome - if there is ever another faire...
