QLD - Sportsman Featherweights 2014

Sportsman Featherweights went off in Sydney with a bang and was pretty successful, so how about a full season in QLD?

Sportsman's should allow us to have an event 4-6 weeks apart without the requirement to rebuild robots from the ground up each event, it should be lighter on the wallet for those who have tighter budgets these days and it will be a bit more friendly towards those who are new comers.

If people are keen, I'd like to look at doing a running point score for the season with some prizes (either funded by small entry fees [$10] or by BotBitz). Both as a bit of an incentive to come to the small events.

Venue wise, thinking Brisbane, Toowoomba or Kingaroy if people are willing to travel? Or we could rotate between locations to split the travelling up between everyone Smile

To get the ball rolling, how would people feel about kicking the season off in February?

I may be able to make this. My parents have said that the arena can be left there for the time being. Does anyone else have somewhere to store it/set it up regularly?

Keen as! provided I get my bot built in time which should be doable all things ( christmas hols ect. ) considered.

Cool I read that thread last night. My concern was that what I have started to build ( "first bot" builder reports ) does not fit in with the guidelines set out here http://botleague.info/doc/RFLTechRegs-2010-final.pdf .

My confusion being I was under the impression the Sportsman Class and Feather weight Class were different, However my understanding is a 13.6 bot could be eligible to be entered in either Sportsman class or Feather Class dependent on it's build spec's re: weather it complies with the above rules for said event.

I don't think from what I read at least I'll comply unfortunately ie. building a roadkill type clone, as I need to learn to drive before I tackle adding weapons

thoughts?

I'm located in Kingaroy.
Currently Steve and I are discussing holding the event in Toowoomba (where the arena currently is) or Kingaroy, we'll work that out shortly Wink

Being a newcomer, this being your first robot and event, I don't think we will have any issues making an exception for your robot not complying to the rules 100%

Lol, Life is still a mess. Post Xmas, moving and general way too much shit to do.

Will be there to help assemble arena and stuff but unless I make something day before will be just helping out.
