2014 USATL - May 5-6, 2014 - Miami Beach Convention Center

"Alright erry body, after a few months of behind-the-scenes work we have firmed up our dates for the 2014 USATL event in Miami! We will be sharing the venue with the Technology Foundation of the Americas (http://tfamericas.org/), which is partnered with many IT companies around the world. I do not have the complete details of their side of the expo, but I do know they are renting the entire Miami Beach Convention Center and we will have as much space as we need to host our event!

The event will be May 5-6, 2014 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and we are going to be bringing the Battlebox from Cali... which means Heavyweights are invited! Things are in motion, and more info is soon to come!

I am going to set up another poll, please let us know what you are bringing! Spread the word, tell your friends! Obviously as we progress and things become concrete, we will open registration on BuildersDB."

More details to come but is basically meant to be the replacement to Robogames.

Well that is the idea but its really dependant on funds/time off. Will definitely try to, and is a good excuse to get it fixed up and maybe even do a second revision for a cluster. Will probably be running feathers too if there is the numbers.

If anyone is interested in coming might be able to work out some group stuff.

Im faintly interested

Interested enough to want to know more about what it might cost me

Say, hypothetically, if we had 4 of us going im thinking it might be reasonable-ish cost wise, and time off shouldnt be a problem for me around then

They'd definately run feathers? What about 1.36kg beetles?

Should be Feathers, Beetles and Ants but its all dependant on numbers. Beetles are by far the most popular in the US.

The largest single outlay I had was flights. ($1500) Didn't really spend much more than a normal holiday while over there but it depends how much travelling you want to do. If we were to organise hotel rooms, sharing parts amongst luggage and some of the transport I am sure could save a fair bit of cash over there.

I could be interested in taking a featherweight - that big arena really favours an undercutter design and Florida is a great place to visit.

Stiff competition in the beetle category eh. Interesting.

I might cogitate on this a little

They are doing sportsman featherweights.

Maybe you should just build a middle or heavy Wink

I do have plans for a lightweight but no time to build it - I will have to shut down my workshop for a while and the race is on the build Mr Mangle first. I was really hoping to take him to two international events.

Yeh I think its purely a time thing, middles and heavies draw a big crowd.

I want to go but not sure if I will be able.
