Ha yeah i reckon the next mod is to turn the bed heat down …this white bit a the front of the bearing was a bit tougher to remove …i blame the bed. Still leaps and bounds to what the non modded extruder was like.

I wouldn't turn the bed temp down, 50c is already fairly low. I'd just maybe change your nozzle height a bit, and maybe tweak the bed a little to be slightly more level (seriously I just do this by hand most of the time).

Smile Also fan door open for aftermarket filament usually helps, I often pop it open after the first layer has gone down.

I have no idea how you tweak the bed with out it all going to hell. Everytime I try to tweak mine left, it jumps a belt and I have to reinitialise it all again and calibrate the bed height... This is the only thing shitting me off about my printer right now Crying or Very sad

How badly out is yours aaron? And is it only out left / right? you can adjust front / back easy enough with the little spring loaded screw at the front.

There's a few other ways to correct left / right problems, including tweaking the guide rails to push more on the perfboard on one side than the other.

Right now it's out a lot in the front right of the bed. I run out of software adjustment (1mm) and the head ends up hammering the perf board in the back left corner when I adjust the head height lower enough for the print to work correctly in the front right....

Do up a video on MakerMuse on how to level the UP Mini's bed already Razz

Anyone tried printing not a smooth surface rather than the holed plastic on the mini up? Im thinking it would be good for raft less printing.

I've been having some bad ass success with the new TPU filament from 3D Printer Gear - basically same stuff those weldable belts are but as a 3D Printing Filament..

You have to do some pretty serious mods to the machine, mostly keeping the stepper cool or it starts chewing the filament - and a 11ohm resistor works well with ABS settings, fine speed, raftless with 250micron layer heights.

Sadly it's a firmer mix of TPU so it's not grippy enough for belts... but damn it could be used for all manner of flexible, tough parts! I'm thinking as a better solution for motor mounts, with a bit of flex for shock absorption. Smile

This is very cool. Itd be great if there was a mod kit available to suit my printer to go with it Smile

Hehe I'm sure there would be a market! Sadly I think the UP Mini just gets too hot to print these kinds of materials (including PLA). Stick with ABS, if you want anything rubber printed shoot me the file!
