Here it is http://www.robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=480

It looks the same as this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brand-New-Gyro-for-Mini-Helicopter_W0QQitemZ5990488416QQcategoryZ2563QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This is the first gyro I have owned so I have nothing to compare it to. The addition of the gyro made Marauder much easier to control. I used to have to compensate for debri getting caught between the armor and the floor, but now the gyro looks after that sort of thing.

Dose it matter about the pysical size of the gyro as in how efective it is?

Im wondering if a 6g tiny gyro has any handycap compared to a 16gram average size gyro?

Usually the bigger more expensive ones have more features and precision..

remote gain adjust, heading lock, disable, pilot-authority, stuff like that... usually not too important in a bot.

Unless you need a high spin-rate for a thwack move (like I.G.).

I noticed that with the gyro enabled, I.G. wouldnt spin anywhere near as fast as it would with it turned off. In that case, you might want one with "pilot authority" which I think means that the gyro will allow a full-scale stick movement from the Tx to "overpower" the gyro's correction attempts to some degree,

If the bot is invertible, you will need a remote disarm to stop the inverted-gyro-death-spin, but you can buy a little add on board to remote disarm any gyro if you dont mind the extra wires. Gyros with remote disarm built in tend to be only the much more expensive ones.

However, I have recently found and purchased a cheap ($12US) remote gyro disarm switch (yes tony, the same one TechnoBots stocks I found it from a hobby supplier in japan about a week before you mentioned them), that does the job I expected it would on the bench, so I.G. is most likely going to be Gyro-equipped too at the next Vic round..

Ive been playing with a cheapy gyro that Brett gave me ...it sems to make the robot more steerable while driveing backwrds or fowards ...my problem is that iff i turn on the spot like to face an opponent then center the stick the robot returns back to where it started its like the gyro is makeing the sterring act like a giant servo ...any thoughts or recomandations ..or should i try a better gyro .. Very Happy

Thats a known effect of that chinese Walkera Gyro.. Sad

If you twiddle with the sensitivity knob, you can apparently minimise that effect but still keep the gyro correction working reasonably well, but its touchy to get right. A better gyro is the only solution there sorry.

Generally the Gyro goes before your mixer. You want the gyro to adjust only the "steering channel" of your bot.

After it has been mixed, both the mixers outputs are a combination of drive and steering, so the gyro cant work post-mixing. This also means you cant use one if you are using mixing in your Transmitter..

The US guys who mix in their radios use two gyros in the bot between the reciever and their ESCs - usually victors. I was told that there are dual channel gyros that help with this, although I couldn't Google any references to such a product.

IMHO, adjusting two gyros to the same settings would be really difficult and then they would drift apart with temperature.
