Geronimo - Timber Titans - QLD

Name: Woody 1. (to be renamed)
Weight Class: Feather Weight
Drive: mystery drill motors
Body: flooring and a bit of skirting board.

This wedge bot is my first and I decided to build it out of wood to see how it ran before committing to steel. BUT after having a test run vs. mental bot and Scott, I was surprised with how well it ran.
SO currently adding a bit of reinforcing steel to the front and corners and fingers crossed there wont be any flame throwers at nationals!

I'm looking to build a spinner next but I'm struggling to find some cheap drills to destroy, any suggestions are welcome. Hopefully ill have some pics up soon!

Had to reinforce the back corners of the wedge to stop it from splintering.
Found some nice thick guttering brackets, but i'm not to sure how they will hold up.

Other than that, i'm pretty close to the weight limit so i'm going to need
to find a durable way to reinforce the front tip of the wedge.

At the moment though i'm trying to draw up some battery and switch mounts to 3d print to drop some kgs.

Nice! Don't forget to acetone the drive mounts or they'll splinter apart for sure. Another thing that might keep them lasting longer is a wide washer where the bolts put pressure on them, theorized but not yet tested. Smile

I think I have some washers lying around, and cheers for the heads up with the acetone.

Ive kinda abandoned my first bot in favor of trying to finish my spinner in time for nats! seriously struggling with weight though. Might need to make the shell out of thick plastic or lighter weight wood.

Try using chopping boards - they are surprisingly good for armour.

just make sure you have some spare. I use up a couple kg each event in cutting board from damage.
