So after another quick test and destroying the gears on a stage from loading up on the frame, i could put limit switches in but id rather not have too many mechanical parts that could come loose and cause problems and they wont stop the gears from breaking when trying to lift too much weight..
So im going to attempt to cram a clutch onto the gearbox.. there is very little space to fit one but this is what i came up with.. who knows if itll work properly but will soon see.. 1 more part to route out tomorrow and can test it.
Decided to get some more photos of the insides and how it works

Finished the Gearbox and clutch today.. still need to find the perfect point where it can lift enough weight yet still slip if it gets jammed but its a start.
really need to remember to make these photos smaller when i upload them.. ah well enjoy big screen hogging photos
And Compared to the other gearmotor.. i somehow managed to make this one about 3mm shorter in length too on the motor side so thats a bonus i guess but now the cause of the front spring tensioner the clearance on the lifting arm is very very tiny >_>
and a sketchy video of me showing the clutch working.. the whole thing sounds alot better then the previous one.. alot less crunchy haha but yeah was only running it on a 2 cell Lipo in this and even with that it had plenty of torque

looking great....thats a good idea with the adjustable gearbox torque..that way you wont burn your motor out against yourself. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

Srsly... ;.; We all need lifter / clamper gearboxes and that thing is a work of art XD would your boss consider a very small batch run of the ali parts for the conversion... I'll pay _________________ ( •_•)

Hmmm. That is interesting. I do have a CNC mill but it may not be good enough to do that but it would interesting to see. It has been ages since I actually tried to mill something.
How many stages in that? _________________ Steven Martin

Lookin pretty damn good.
You'll probably find you need a harder spring though with 4 stages, demon definitely needs one with 3 stages. Have to get around to winding one for it! _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

its 4 stage and yeah im hoping fully tensioned as far as it can go it will be enough to work but if not then i will need to look for a different spring.. left plenty of room to fit a thicker one in there _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

last bit of update spam for me for a while.. robot is pretty much finished.
put the clutch gearbox in today and gave it a test. seems to do the job atleast.
neat. looks capable... have you tested it lifting 13.6kg yet? _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam
