cassie is asking her work for leave
Would plan-C be allowed at this event?

It'll punch holes in a 3mm steel wall and probably do the same to a 6mm one, If it succeeds it'll have a spike about 300-500mm long sticking out. This is all worst case of course (or best case depending on how you look at it)

Quiet you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XafPI4aL4U ;-P

Only 50/50 on being able to get that done in time, needs a bunch of custom PCB and software to work, and it sounds like some new valves Mr Glen ;-P

but yeah if her leave goes through we will turn up with something

Cassie will have an ant too more than likley

Um what was Plan C?

With a spike that long and able to punch through 3mm I don't think so. But I will believe it will punch through 3mm when I see it. Maybe if you timed it right with spike and ramming the wall then yes... but still I doubt it, would just throw bot.

I am guessing Plan C has changed a little in the last 6 and a bit years?

If a spike can do too much damage to the arena, could like in the comments of the thread you use a blunt ram? It may do a bit more damage to your bot and less to the opponent but it is still a fair bit of KE delivered.

I feel blunt spike should be fine. But no you will not be allowed a tank or bottle heater.

you could do a compound blunt / sharp spike
IE

Thus, you have a blunt 'plate' to limit penetration depth, meaning you cant fire the thing a foot through arena wall, but can still pierce robots

seanet1310 wow I thought all that stuff was lost to history great find.

We were doing those tests with a 20mm flat on the front as I recall.
In order to be effective as a weapon rather than a kinda lame poker it needs to have a sharp, square point tip on it, a needle Bodkin point.

I might just see about making a drum or something sensible instead probably quicker to build anyway. Should know in the next few days if cassie is getting her leave.

That's what I was thinking.
The 885 belt drive was what killed that one.
Still when the belts stayed on it drove like a banshee ;->

I still have the drum and probably the drive for it floating about too.

Ausxmods sells T5 pulleys and belts very, very cheap. Would fix the slipping problem... Still, should stop the OT talk. Smile
