I've got a decent enough 1080p camera which doesn't fisheye the arena, so mainly just need someone to man it.

The more cameras the better though!

The effects stuff sounds great Nick! Bring it for sure. We've also got a projector to hook up to a cam on the ant arena, and show upcoming rounds from the battleputer.

I'm not sure the light stands will be needed, with the self lit arenas there should be enough ambient lighting.

I fully understand how busy you must be at the moment Nick! So i'm thinking to get it from Jakes, the budget can go towards hiring a van ? It's $85 or something a day from go-get for a commercial van.

Only problem is the 2.5M long roof lengths... I don't think the rental van's have roof racks.

@ Aaron, you guys are staying with me so don't think you have a choice.

we got all the 2.4M stuff to my place in Jakes car with the seats folded down, so any decent sized car / wagon will handle them.

Sounds good! For the effects lighting, its more for the walls / roof and I couldn't see what colour the roof is from the photo you posted. It would also be handy to know if there are any mounting points for lights on the walls or roof. If there are no mounting points, it would be handy to know what height the roof is for fitting in stands. Without existing light mounting rails, the best way to get the lights above the crowd is one of those light stands.

If you can get a lite-ace van, they can take a 1.2 by 2.4m sheet lying flat and should take a 2.6m pole diagonally.

Is there a sound system there already? I don't have much sound gear, just a 600w amp, 4 channel mixer and some 12" stage speakers. An ipod loaded with 8 hours of current music would be most handy

Sound system is sorted ! I've even got a robowars mix that went down well at nats in Brisbane last year.

But again, I don't think we'll need any additional lighting. Will have to check how the space looks now on the 18th to know for sure though.

I'll try and get the towbar hooked up to my car before the event then I'll pinch the trailer and hope it doesn't rain. If we can plan it in advance I'll schedule around the weather and I'll tarp it as well. Worst case I'll borrow Russell's car and do it that way.

WRT registration and battleputer I'm in the process of integrating it into the botregister website doohickey and if it all looks good we'll run it through that, and provide access on whatever idevice people have with them. If not the regular battleputer will suffice ;-P

@angus, is there internet at this place? as in adsl?

Not aimed just at you Jaemus, but yes it's a public event so really can't have the faffing about we usually do! It's also for safety we need to turn bots off quickly.

The morning bot registration will go like this:

- Register bot
- Weigh-in
- 30seconds to turn bot on and put in the arena for safety test
- Demonstrate failsafe of weapon when radio signal lost
- 30seconds to demonstrate turning the robot off.


Just saying again, we do have budget to HIRE a van, if it makes anything easier.

Just hoping the power switch doesnt jeopardize me getting it done / lose me a match due to it being dodgy or not combat tested... but im being a picky jerk here really, we're all supposed to have power switches I just didnt budget time for it and that's my poroblem

Power switches make up for the time in making them pretty quickly with the reduction in screwing around at the event.

No Power switch but plug battery in, put one screw in and throw in arena. Should be fine within 30 seconds

Also just got new drum finished. Same setup but stronger and guts r inside the frame this time.

Yep, links are fine! I prefer them in my bots too, but just make sure you can get to them fairly easily please!

yep i usually use the plug in XT60 but the 400 screws on my top cover will fox me this time

unless i go up against a wedge or box bot where i probably can live without all 400
