I would also like to give this a go. I take it this could handle 10A or so ?

hopefully it'll handle 10A lol
otherwise its kinda pointless
We haven't tested it yet though but it should do it, worst case we'll need the stainless steel bolt that had the bigger head or some heavier copper, but looking at what happens in the speed controllers, its not going to be far off.

Oh god dropped screw.... M1.6???

Only issue with current design is burr on the PCB top layer touching the screw.

sorry marto missed your post for some reason.
These are perhaps not production quality just yet.

I believe they are M1.6 screws.

Also the plan is to solder the wires on then cut channels in the polycarb top to let the wires out where you want them for your bot.

lemme know how it goes.

There seems to be an absence of power switches for ants and beetles.
This is causing some issues for operations and safety.

So i was cruising one of my rocket suppliers and came across this.

I've ordered a few of these to try them out......main issue I think would be if the screw backs out during combat. The team whyachi switches fail "on" so avoid that problem. Perhaps a loctite patched screw would work here if they do tend to come loose.

why wouldn't it? I've found loctite is pretty much essential in my bots to keep the screws tight. These switches will turn off if they loosen even a little.

There are all metal locknuts that could be soldered in place AND prevent the screw loosening off.......

Vibration could be an issue but I think @ the scale we are talking it would be fairly unlikely as the screw is a tiny M1.6 one. Also M1.6 locknuts?? They exist? I would like some.

We have been using variations on bolt switches in robots for years as have many in the community, nobody has had a problem with them turning off yet.

Those switches are used in high power rockets often pulling 100G with 50G vibration on top of that. Again still not coming loose.

Your solving a problem that doesn't exist.

If it was part of a joint where there was actual force and movement and the bolt was being structural then its a different issue.
The tightening force would be measured in KG, the forces acting on the bolt would be measured in grams.

Well if they have worked in practice then I'll give them a chance as is.

Thanks, Pete

Is that right? I would like 100 of the M1.6 at that sort of price next time you put in an order, please.
