Oh FFS.

"... with regards Robowars. Due to mitigating circumstances, The Edge will not be in a position to fund or deliver the Robowars event this financial year.... "

I asked for $2k for the weekend seriously!

Sorry guys this is a complete turn around from discussions I had up until 2 weeks ago. And had assurances that funding would not be an issue and dates were firm. Hold off on that leave and flights.

Just when you think things are all going well some one else turns around and screws you.

The $10k they threw away a couple of months ago must have really ended their budget Confused

What project was funded by that.

Tbf I think there is a lot of bigger cost then our budget. Such as staff for 2 days. But no negotiating to even try and still run a 1 day event, leads me to believe there are other factors at play.

Ideas festival is not until next year. And while we could probably hire the suncorp piazza I am pretty sure that would be more than the entire $2k budget is set for holding the event. We have some other possibilities which we are looking at.

If it comes down to it we can probably fund ourselves. Though this will mean no prize money and entry fees like the nationals. For nationals these were used to fund our roof upgrade and floor upgrade (plus some donations of parts/equipment from members mostly Aaron and myself). And similarly this time we would need to fund a few things, such as insurance, work on arena and the heaps of misc which arises along the way. Running these things costs money and while $2k is a pittance to any reasonably sized company its quite a lot for the club.

On another note I found out that we should be able to hire a van and transport it anywhere on east coast for ~$1500 so if anyone has a venue willing to sponsor us $3.5 to hold an event put them in contact with me.

Ah is that all. I am sure we can afford that.

Other locations are currently in play. Maybe will get answers before Christmas.

Atm nothing. Ipswich art gallery are keen for event but not on these dates.

Could do non-public event or just move to local event @ hackerspace. Sad

Non-public event sounds good to me. Means we can load up on moar battles and take as much time as we want Smile

We've had decent non-public events in the past with good interstate attendance. I don't see why it cannot be done again.
