Well my reprap made a valiant effort to print all 12 Kitbots I used for the workshops.

Since then however it has been in a bit of a bad way. I have been slowly attempting to nurse it back to health but its starting to get to the point where I might need a second printer to print parts to get it back there.

Current issues I am having are:
- loose belts
- crack in my x-carriage
- random drop outs (think this is software) stops mid print
- Not sticking ABS. Not sure what I can do here. I also keep cracking glass beds.

Perhaps replace the printed structural parts with Al or something a bit more dimensionally stable.

Nothing really wrong with the dimensional stability. Just general strength and wear. Yeh might have to come to the UP! for help.

Recently upgraded to UP! mini. Never ever going back.

Quality is amazing, the support structure so you don't have to worry about overhangs is also amazing. It prints a raft so bed levelling and height down to 10 microns isn't an issue.

Also experimenting with vaporised acetone to meld together layers. Looks very promising. And may produce much stronger parts.

Vaporised acetone? Are you spraying it on while it prints?

Yes. Do not conduct around open flame.

Auto ignition point is 450C so that's not a big issue. And vessel isn't sealed so shouldn't explode as such.

I am using acetone and a rice cooker. Gets rid of layers n makes em shiny.

Nah you just put like 30ml of acetone in the bottom and turn on rice cooker for 5min till it vapourises.

Then give it 1min and remove part. And it goes all shiny.

Here is a terrible iphone picture.

For the last couple of weeks I have been collecting parts for a reprap. After going through many options for the design of the machine and what would be required to build one I have decided it would be easier if I could get a pre-fab frame. Has anyone got any pre-printed parts for any reprap that they may be willing to part with to make things a little easier for me? Or does anyone want to earn a little cash and print some parts for me?

I have 1.5 RepRaps about. Philip isn't currently using mine if you want a prefab job and I have a frame and some surplus parts if you want to make your own and pass on the printer to the next member.

Also I have been thinking about setting up a Up Farm as another side project time is currently prohibitive but for those who have not already got a printer I am looking for some people to trial such a system.

Basic concept is I leave my printer running 24/7 every day in morning/evening I check it if something has been printed I remove it from printer. And post it. Then reset printer. With the UP I am happy enough to leave it running on its own so it wouldn't require that much work. Cost would be plastic + postage for beta testers. But time, always the time.
