Building robots professionally

Is anyone interested in building robots professionally?

Marathon Targets is a Sydney company that makes armoured human-sized robots designed for use as targets in live-fire military training: http://www.marathon-targets.com

We're currently looking at expanding our engineering team, the position description is here: http://www.marathon-targets.com/open_positions.html

If you're interested, please let me know.

I am sure you will find more than a few people interested here. If only it was in Brisbane. (Still tempting)

Are you guys running ROS onboard?

Looks like an interesting proposition Smile

I've just a few questions:

- Where is Marathon Targets heading with this technology?
- Where do you see these technologies / product branching out to?
- What areas are you looking to improve by filling this job position?
- What the rough ball park figure for salary?

Seriously, sounds like fun, he certainly found the right area to go recruiting ! Smile

Hi Knightrous,

if you're interested, send a CV and something about how your skills match the position to jobs@marathon-targets.com and we can go from there.

Sounds interesting, If only I didn't have my Defence job about to start Sad sounds like great fun, If I ever get the chance to see it in real life I will be sure to try and get there. I do notice you are defence recognised supplier.

Good luck to anyone here who applies.

No reaction from Glen ?

I would have thought this sort of thing would have well suited someone of his broad skill base..

Or have you applied and just not said anything in public Glen ?

If you are Interested and want a nice reference from a practicing Professional Electronic Engineer / Consultant and ex-RoboWars EO on the quailty of your robot works, Id be happy to reccomend you to them in flowery engineer-career speak.

Ive seen the quality of work that has gone into your bots over the Years, I dont know what your educational/paper skills are , but in practice, your design/engineering skills are pretty impressive. No Im not just blowing sunshine, I mean it

To other nsw-ers, yes theres plenty of other admirable engineering works up there too, but most of the other ones I think do good work have already said publicly they arent interested, so dont get huffy that I didnt complment you too.. Wink

Fair enough Smile

*You* dont get a nice reference from me though, because you came out of nowhere with a last minute hacked together collection of el-cheapo robot bits that somehow worked amazingly well and handed Inspector General its ass. Razz

(oops, I think I just gave you one with that statement Wink

I think its *still* dizzy from all those flips !

Other than that I have no idea what your robot creations have been like.

I haven't built enough in recent years unfortunately!

Stealth lived on for a fair while and won a few events, but eventually not much was left (thanks Nick!)
My next robot was a flamethrower, which won an event but was not really that effective Smile
