Robowars NSW 2012 Events

Alright guys, fresh back from a sick nationals event I'm all fired up to start planning this years events.

The proposed dates revolve around the big QLD and possible VIC events detailed by Stevo here - http://robowars.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1706

The idea is to have our event dates set in stone early on so people can organise way in advance to attend them. No date moving unless a serious conflict comes up and minimum 1 month in advance. I'll be putting feelers out to find places willing to host us in a variety of locations. This could be a hackerspace like robots + dinosaurs, somewhere funky like beehive or maybe even a builders place like our ant event at glens. That kind of thing. Smile

Because I'll be aiming to organise the vast majority of these events they're also structured around my 4th year uni timetable. Laughing

All dates are on a Saturday unless specified otherwise.

Jan 21st - Ant Event at Glens with portable Ant arena.

March 3rd - Beetle + ant event, To be held at Robots and Dinosaurs Hackerspace pending Confirmation

March 24th - Feather Event at Marayong.

April 21st - Ant Event

June 16th - Beetle Event

July 28th - Feather Event

September 22nd - Beetle Event

November 3 + 4th - Battleshed NSW, Feathers and ants (and maybe beetles)

November 24th - Ant Event

Will be updated as more details are decided. Smile

Awesome, everyone should get geared up for the first event of the year. Big BBQ and social gathering is in order methinks! Cool

Probably not serial space, I've got 4th year uni to contend with and although I appreciate the offer of help I'm probably not going to risk it till next year. I will however be supporting every big QLD event. Wink

Got nothing else planned so i guess i'll base my year around this XD

Event here should be cool if anyones interested in visiting this trash hole once more. On the upswing, i do now have grass in the backyard! beautiful beautiful grass lol

Having two local feather events here would be nice at the expense of ants and beetles. Would be nice to get my moneys worth out of the featherweights this year vs last >.>

How likely is that Sidetracked event? Without Brett to organise it, I think its iffy at best. Perhaps we should try a Battleshed event?

Like Glen, I would like to see a few more feather events

Alright, considering the recent disappointing drop out for the QLD march event it has been altered. I agree the VIC event is highly unlikely was just coping that little hopeful date from Steve.

That's three feather events and if we're all committed to them they should be big ones. Smile

Keep the feedback coming Very Happy Appreciate it.

Hmm, consider it a place holder then. We can always drop ant or beetle events for feathers if people would prefer.

Theres nothing stopping anyone else from running an Event at Sidetracked..

As has been discussed before, if the EO is willing to follow a few basic guidelines and do it professionally, they would be pleased to have you.

I will even help out a bit, Im just not prepared to take on the front role.

@Brett I think the main issue is you realistically need a local EO. To coordinate any event is hard enough as you would know, but to do it from a different state I wouldn't be willing to take on... We'll see how things pan out, maybe some more VIC guys can make a big event and that'll boost interest to organise another Sidetracked event.

Very pleased for the feather events wherever they may end up.

I plan to commit to getting the feather done by the March event, so i should be a definate there.

Ants I can also do whenever wherever, bring it on!

Beetles are iffy for me until June probably tho - i need to do serious repairs on a weak wedge bot, or a whole new design, and that amongst a proper feather and various ants might not be a commitment i can uphold

but everything else is win, Angus are you able to compare all this to your Uni timetable and advise where you think you may need help in advance organising things? I don't want to let you become the unofficial EO when you may have genuinely important things taking your attention elsewhere - we should be able to share that around, that said, loving Glen's commitment to events at his place btw.

I'm seriously considering putting my hand up for such a project. While not competing at Nationals with a featherweight, I did find it somewhat enjoyable to have organised the rounds, fights and MC'd for the day.

I'll give you a call in the new years to discuss this Brett.

No worries, these dates are planned around when i'll be available. I'm more than happy taking over EOing our events if it means they happen on a more regular basis. Smile Uni is annoying, but not as time consuming as a full time job. Smile

Keen to see everyone in Jan then! I'll have FLS. Laughing
