How about using the 36V new-style hammer drill motors? They are a little larger & heavier, but would not be stressed in your situation. The only problem is mounting the gearboxes; you would need a custom solution. I recall that Servo magazine had a story last year about someone who did that & it look really sturdy.

I don't know if i trust the new style ones... The old ones were pushed to their limit and handled it with no problems, but the new ones are built much cheaper and expected to reach the same limit...
Dewalt used to be such a good product, now its just cheap crap.

I think the main point is why? They have more power than you can supply traction for at 24v, and i cant see any reason to run more voltage then that in a featherweight given the current power of huge outrunners and the like
What're you building anyway dude, sounds like you've done a fair bit of research, you should put up a build report ;D
And yeh i think dewalt was bought out by another tool company (ryobi, black and decker??) and has slowly morphed into just another chinky brand, especially their cheaper line of stuff. Shame indeed. Still want an 18v power drill from them though to actually use as a drill _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

i thought I might be able to lock them in low and up the voltage to get more acceleration in a smaller 16x16 arena. Doesn't look like it is going to work out though. I'll do a build report as soon as I remember to take build pictures. I am always so busy doing I forget to document as I go along. I'm working on it though.

Like one who calls you at 6:00AM bitching about the changes you have made to her computer. Deleting all her emails etc.
yeah, she wasn't actually logged into the computer, she was using somebody elses account who hadn't logged out.
