Cool pics!
Damn, that bar spinner really made a mess, is that a dewalt motor powering its blade?
I think you should maybe use something apart from UHMW to support your weapon for next time. _________________ ( •_•)

It might be alright if you use a larger area to mount the bearing, which would also need a larger area to mount to. So maybe you could increase the plastic area out(towards the opponent).
Nice pictures BTW thank you. This also seems to support my latest theory on vertical spinners vs horizontal.......horizontal wins. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

looks like the bearing was just torn straight out the other side, maybe a plate to capture the bearing in
looks cool though, i know ive seen that little bar spinner on some swedish forum. he makes alot of cool stuff

That's a broad statement, lot of variables in there that can change the situation, like RPM, Tooth speed, # Teeth, Tooth Size... An example of a vertical spinner beating horizontals, check out 3PD _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Drums have a much better chance, the spinners can't catch blade edges.
See Vish vs Jolt for more info too. _________________ ( •_•)

im guessing u havnt seen the match where nemo explodes 3pd's beater then
in the vert v horizontal debate there r variables but in short if both weopons r at full speed and both blades come in contact by bet is on horizontal, i have taken out some horizontal spinners but they were either not to full speed or it was a lucky shot _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Yah, that was a big hit. But that is one of the very few that 3PD lost, and as you'd know in this sport, there is no once design that will beat all. I just see the statement of Horizontal > Vertical is too general. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

correction. nick beat jolt by driving into the walls and u flipping him when bar was spinning up or stopped
i agree anything could happen but if i see a horizontal spinner and a vert spinner if they go full power weopon to weopon my money is on the horizontal spinner _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Just to clarify then(I was off to work and didn't post in detail)... I was referring to the two bots in the picture above, and wasn't including drums and beaters in my non descriptive post.
If a bot was built for a weight class(the same weight), and the build quality was of the same standard. I believed a vertical spinner has a disadvantage in basic design because it requires a higher axle for its weapon. This would require more complex(inefficient in comparison) mounting, giving an advantage to the horizontal spinner.
Angus's last bot went well in disproving this, by building a stubby vertical spinner with good strength. And in doing so maybe getting closer to a drum type bot.
Conclusion maybe: Large vertical bar/disk spinners seem to require inefficient mounting, giving an advantage to a similar weapon 'the large bar/disk horizontal spinner'. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
