Lower is pretty much always better. so 0.1A if you can wait 10hrs for it to be charged.

2C is the max for most lipos so I 2A would be the max of what I would do. I would probably do 1A to 0.5A normally. But just my opinion. Others might say less.

hey Steve
Ok so maybe I overcharged the last lipo thats why it all puffed up. Will do it at 1 amp from now on.

The big 6cell a123's should be fine at 2amps right?

thanks
miles

A123s can take a very high charge rate but they don't like being overcharged much.

Tend to go pop as you saw. So I would always charge them in Balance mode. Not really sure what the difference is, think it stops and balances at the end.

I really need to put balance leads on my A123s. I know they stay in balance pretty well but just for peace of mind.

Lol, the replies here are fast Shocked

Hello again !

You should use 1C to charge the LiPo battery, so, 1A is the ideal to recharge the battery. But, to do the recharge fast, you can use 2C in some batteries. But it is at your own risk Rolling Eyes

A exemple:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11901

Look in PRODUCT CONFIG. TABLE, there are a little box written: MAX CHARGE RATE. Look there... max charge = 5C , so, 5A in this battery.

Hope this help,

Caio Barbosa

Hi Guys
So that 4cell is still being a pain. It did us proud in Baby Wanda but it wont balance properly.

It just wont let me balance it in 4 cell. It keeps saying- battery vol err cell connect. on the charger.... it lets me just charge it in auto mode.

Does it just mean one of the cells is shagged?

I checked it with a volt meter and there is power coming out of all the wires on the balance lead.

Hi Steve
it says 4.15 4.11 0.00 4.13 v

thats what the charger says when it briefly tries to ballence. But my voltmeter was reading some voltage on all of em.

thanks miles

dead cell, throw it out.

Id say your only registering voltage cause of the way your measuring it across the balance plug.

that or perhaps a wire has pushed out of the charging plug and its not registering voltage or something funky like that.

doubt the balancer would read 0.00 even with a dead cell
I'm wagering its a dodgy wire/pin/plug

though if it is a dead cell and it charged the rest of them to a 4 cell voltage they are all screwed too lol

Yeah this is the second one to do weird stuff. The first one puffed up(well one cell did) so chopped it out ,and then put on a new balance lead and now it works fine as a 3cell.

Not sure of exact voltage cause I just used one of those basic led testers. But it did light up. will do a test with a digital meter next.

Could be buggered wire on the balance lead.

Maybe cut it open and see.
