Hey dudes, once again huge thanks to everyone who's already pledged.. looks good! Just a bit of an update I've been spamming the living hell out of everyone I can think of that may be vaguely interested in the event, most importantly in the sponsorship end. If anyone knows of a company/group/media network whatever that would be interested, please by all means send them to robotcombat.pozible.com.au ! If you don't want to... just PM me their details and i'll shoot one off. Smile Never know if you don't ask...

Please check the old thread for some 'planning' stuffs. Cool Keeping this thread fairly clean from random chatter if I can. Very Happy

Thanks for the update!

Everything is looking good, rules, safety and judging look like you've spent a bit of time working on it all and everything seems fair (IMO). Counting down the days till this event!

Suggestions wrt running event.

All bots *must* have some kind of on/off switch or be able to go from "charging" to "ready" in under 30 seconds.

The whole plugging batteries in, applying tape, doing up bolts thing just before the match slows things down too much for a public event.

Also we could pinch the timer + buzzer setup from the main arena for the event perhaps rather than relying on shouting about tapouts etc.

We need a named umpire for each match, perhaps with a funny hat, this person probably shouldn't be a judge if we can avoid it. Its their job to do things like countouts, arena unsticks, etc and the guidelines for that should be well defined.
I'm happy to do it mostly but I hope to be competing at the event.

All very good suggestion. Definatley have to reinforce the '30sec till ready' rule, with ants, plugging the battery in direct is fine with me but it really should be quick, like I had for nyant.

I have some funky arcade buttons we can rig to a latching relay for tapping out buzzer/driver ready etc. Timer we'll probably use the PC.

I defo need to find a dedicated umpire... still working on that, I'd rather you compete jake! Razz So need like, that guy in the robotsuit from early robogames...

Well yes but that is another matter. (Not combat robots)

"Paid, now to build robots." Would have been a better statement. Real question is how many to bring 1,2,3,....6....
