ultra cap energy density is low.
a fair bit of power yes but the same weight of batteries will run the arc for ~10-100x longer than caps.

Also when caps are 50% discharged they are 50% voltage
so you start off at 100v and end up at 50.

Also they are stupidly expensive, 200A out of lipo's is a little spendy but achievable.
same voltage in caps is going to cost ~$1500 as far as i can rember.

Lol think we may have gone a little off the beetle flamethrower discussion.

Build it and I will believe it can be done.

2mm steel Vs 2p6c 5Ah 20C battery pack

looser 2mm steel.

the copper coloured stuff waste is from the "cutting rod" (aka high temp silicon cable)

Plasma cutter though should be OK as long as its the plasma leaving the robot doing the damage not the EMF.

the plasma globe ignitor works. Runs off an ant LiPol and I should have a servo swith from HobbyKing arriving during the week to turn it on and off.
And I burnt the hair off my knee and at bit off my head. I'll go get a hair cut tomorrow.

So... I ended up spending about three hours this afternoon making a flame thrower nozzle.

Aluminium outer shell. Brass outer flame holder. Brass Inner flame holder.

I didn't take any pics tonight, but I will try and take some of it in operation on Tuesday.
