4 Weeks to go. How are robots looking?

I am pretty keen. Nearly got naked turtle sorted just waiting on cut off switch. Other two still need lots of work.

Loosing interest in building featherweights Sad lack of daylight and the sheer cold out here at night (5'c - 10'c) just kills my enthusiasm for anything (including my car projects!). However, keen to get a few more ants running, considering on having 4 ants for this event with a few extra parts arriving Cool

I have got two ants ready to go. Just about to start on a third.

I want to know any charges/deposits to enter before I decide to enter any into the event. As in this thread .

I got Sidewinder driving around. Just need to install the flames.
Vendetta is still fine.
Not really excited by ants at the moment.

@ phillip - definitely not this one. Future events possibly but I think refunds and everything is too had to organise. Its just $10/bot as aaron posted. Will have to ask him about team discounts.

Few queries about flame throwers.

Would like to point everyone back to RFL rules so maximum fuel you should be carrying is 4oz or 113g. And the canister should be mounted as far from the robots externals as possible.

Also Daniel's pilot light loop hole will be ok this time round depending on how things go it may not be in the future. I will also need you to demonstrate that you can shut this off reliably shutting it off 50% of the time is no good.

Finally if you build a flamethrower you will be responsible for bringing a fire extinguisher to put out your robot or anyone you light on fire.

Would also like to add to Steve's comments on flamethrowers. Just as a safety precaution, I believe any robot equipped with a flame device will need to be the last robot loaded into the arena and the first robot removed from the arena with only the builder in the arena at each instance.

Hi Guys
Yeah good things to mention guys. I'm not going to build one anytime soon. They are to scary....Half the reason of making fighting robots is having fun, and a flamethrower is to much responsibility for me anyway.

the $5 for 4 cans of butane at Bunnings/K-mart are 8oz. It seems safer to just install the entire can of butane into the robot rather then trying to make a new tank or trying to empty half the contents.

Yeh venting 50% of them is not going to be safe. However if you are using more than 50% of the can in one fight then I also think that gives you an unfair advantage.

I would prefer to keep the quantity of gas in the arena down. As I am not sure whether our arena is completely fire proof.
