Ive been a bit busy with work again last couple of weeks..
But I logged in and looked at making accounts on Sunday.. Its been a while, so Id forgotten how WakkaWikki did that.
From what I can see, with auto-registration turned off, the only way to add new Wiki accounts in the current version is to edit the SQL tables directly from the phpMyAdmin SQL EDitor under Cpanel.
This is a fair bit of fiddling around and I'll have to refamiliarise myself with the SQL table structures to do so, which will take some time as well.
Alternatively, I can turn auto-registration back on for a short period of time that anyone who wants an account knows in advance, and you all register during that period, then I turn it off again.. If I leave it on, the Spammers will come flooding in pretty quickly, so I dont think that is reccomended.
Or, if someone has time to do so, go poke around around the WakkaWiki site - http://docs.wikkawiki.org/WakkaWiki and see if they have come up with any good solutions to Spammer registrations, let us know what you find, and if it looks worthwhile time-wise, I can look at upgrading the Wiki Software to a later version that will enable auto registrations to be left on (which is probably unlikely given the waves of human spammers these days). _________________ Great minds discuss ideas.
