Robotic Maple Seed - flying melty brain?
A friend linked a
video
of a powered, RC "maple seed" flyer.
It's able to be controlled to an extent, modulating the wing pitch to control the lift but using no sensors on board. Directional flying is obtained by observation and adjustment of the loops this type of vehicle naturally makes. Doesn't really sound much, but watch the video. It certainly challenges some assumptions about flight.
How could this type of control be utilised for melty brain robots - adjusting a stable oscillation to provide thrust and direction?
