Ill be sure to come along and check it out. I have some parts here ready for a robot, but funds wont allow me to finish one in time. I thought that the VIC scene was dead so sort of gave up on it.

Ive got 4 x 100w scooter motors, 2 x OSMC's and a whole heaps of alloy/steel plate. In my parts bin is a DX6i and a few 11.1v lithium packs aswell as some other goodies.

I should be able to make with some kind of bot, won't be very good tho.

Sorry I haven't replied for a while, the March CISCO show is now unlikely to happen. Which draws more attention back to the Sidetracked event. So ill give Sidetracked a buzz this weekend and confirm the 19th of February for us to come along and have an event.

The fight structure is likely to be a round robin, with less point losses to forfeits against powerful bots, the idea is to give 'paper bots' a better chance of surviving more fights by avoiding some of the more destructive robots.

Ok, contacted Mark from Sidetracked today in regards to having a competition on Saturday 19th February, I told him it will be a small one day event, he said that will be no problem at all for that date.

I hope we can make it an interesting show with the builders who will be able to make it. Ill put the rental bots back in about mid way when we usually have a break, for spectators to use and maybe bring some things for us to smash up.

I've updated my first post, the competition will start at 10am and we will continue until 5pm, sound good?

I think the round-robin is the plan, I think Neweyn knows how the round-robin works, i don't, unfortunately :/

I hope to build it/them this weekend.
I don't want it/them smashed in the first bout, but I don't mind losing.

Don't worry Damien, we won't destroy your robot unless you want it to be destroyed We aint out for the 'win' we're just in it for fun. Plus you can tap or forfeit at any time, completely understandable if you have a ferocious opponent (such as a spinner).

About the tournament setup for tomorrow

Im satisfied with doing a round robin for the benefit of getting the most fights for any new people who otherwise may easily loose 2 fights in a double eliminator and be out of the comp early

round robin looks like it works quite well with small events which is probably what we will have

we will need 3 people to be judges on each fight

each judge will have 5 points to distribute based on who they thought deserved the win from that match

if there is an uneven number of robots there will be a bye in each round

a bye is awarded 9 points

if a robot forfeits a fight they dont get any points or loose any points, the robot who didnt forfeit gets 9 points, so its just like a bye for that robot.

if a robot knocks his opponent out 18 points are awarded

if at the end of the round-robin there are robots with similar points a single elimination can decide the winner


so...see who shows up tomorrow and we'll go from there

1st Robot in progress!

Yeah there wern't many people there which was a bit of a shame.
There was basically just the rowangs, matt, viggy, damien and me.
All the rotwang bots got a test and there was alot of things brought in to smash up
Hurricane had a few minor issues and all but went ahead and fought badger. I'm a little bit disapointed that my only worry lost the fight that badgers tooth height isjust above mine and it had a slightly bigger bite. The fight went out as a typical spinner vs spinner usually goes, One big bang and one of them isn't working. Badger got a direct hit on my shell which left a big dint to get jammed on the battery section of the chassis. The shell is possibly repairable but the chassis is in perfect condition can't wait for the vid!

I spose if we get more events/meets going then the enthusiasm for the vics might pick up a bit.
