Yeah myth busters style!

Yeah we only really discovered this tip 6 months ago.

Next time everyone is up in Bris for an event, we could do a robowars field trip to the tip. ha ha! Its open Thur, fri, sat and sun, and mon 10am-5pm.

I'm feeling guilty because there were two matching Makita drills there but they were only 7.2volts so I didn't bother getting them. But they could have been ok for something smaller!

yeah we have a reverse garbage in Brisbane to..its a cool shop, but every time we have been there there doesn't seem to be as much industrial junk. Its more crafty style.....Still cool, we a bought many a set piece there. That place in Tas sounds cool!

Just checking out is the size difference between the 12 and 18volt gmc


Still struggling to get the chuck off the 18v...need the drop saw so will continue tomorrow!

The little one is from a tool master and the big one is from a gmc...weird! You wouldn't want to put these in a robot to drive it. The gearbox on the tool master is the same size as a regular 12volt drill.

Yes so the 18V vs 12V is not a sure thing.

The motor windings is really the only difference between an 18 and 12v motor. 18V drills may have a 18V motor or possibly a 12V motor overvolted. They may also have a larger gearbox or one exactly the same as the 12V. They also come in a two speed variety which is what you appear to have there.

Jules has got two new Ozito 18 volt drills waiting to be hacked...its a bit scary not knowing what is in them. Hoping for the big more brutal ones, naturally!

You only get big beefy motors and gearboxes with hammer drills, or from respectable brands like Miwaukee, Dewalt or Panasonic.

I pulled a big boy out of a gmc! You cant tell from the outside of the drill either. I think there is a bit of luck involved with the cheapies!

We just got power!.... 6 days without ....that was annoying...you forget how dependent you are on electricity till you don't have it. But we didn't get flooded and there was plenty of food available near by (Macas at the end of our street didn't close once!)

We really don't have anything to complain about though ,some people lost everything.

Luckily a year back, we moved from our old shed complex at (turley st raceview ) where we were shooting our animation, they had 6ft of water through there...We been helping our mates there clean out their sheds, nothing survives stinking flood water.

Thats our old old shed on the end.
Apparently it went way over the door height at its peak!

I'm so relieved you're OK and were able to provide aid, rather than needing it.

Hi a couple of questions from jules
just dismantled two Ozito 18v drills and noticed that the motor disconnects from the gearbox really easily - has anyone come across this before? none of our other drills have done this. I just thought i would fibreglass the back on but if anyone has a better idea

Thinking ahead here -with the design of the new Lotus i may have to put the motors behind each other for room like i noticed in Warning. Just wondering if once i get this together does it just drive straight or would there have to be a lot to do with the trim control?

We did a test with the gyro on the blue speedos in original Lotus and we just couldnt get it to do much other than mental stuff and it took off on its own destroying everything in its path including an ancient glass terrarium. I have since been looking at the robo claw 2x25A speed controller it looks pretty cool has anyone used this one or know anything about it?
